Why else would Nashville be looking to move him...

It's not that hard to figure out. Use your brain.

- LordStanley88

good information. Nashville may not want to have an 80 million dollar contract on their books, it's their right...so with that, he will be too much to resign. It will be interesting. Once again, thanks for the insight with whomever you talk too.
but just so i can feel part of the conversation...

who?
what?
when?
where?
why?

Let's not count our chickens before they've hatched.

It's Monday, June the 18th, 2012.

The Flyers do not have Weber.

This is reality.

We are gonna trade for nash, suter and weber. Sign parise and jagr. Only lose carle, jvr, Mab, schenn, vorechek and 1Rst. The cap will not apply this year because snider won a pissing contest with bettman. We finish 82 - 0. go 16 - 0 in the playoffs. All awards won by flyers. Did I miss anything?

Flyers always think big. You don't need any inside info to know that if Weber is made available, the Flyers will stick their nose in there.

If Weber is available he should be on their radar, he's a franchise defenseman in his prime. You don't find those guys very often.

If Weber is looking at an $80mm contract, I'd assume it'd be a 10 year deal.

Can the Flyers handle that? $8mm cap hit for the next ten years? Plus giving up a couple of 22 year old with very good potential?

I'd rather them make it 12-13 years to keep the cap hit down if this were to happen.

Absolutely. At the same time, is Weber cool with that?

Weber will cost them an arm and a leg. There's really no two ways about it.

I find it slightly troublesome that the Flyers operating income is just north of 3 million. Whereas by comparison the Rangers are at 40 plus million.

The only real question here is if the Flyers do get Weber does Lilja know that he has to give up his #6?

Flyers will find a way to make it all work. Weber is about the only defenseman I would be willing to switch course. I like this team right now but it's hard to get a player on his level at his position.

In all seriousness I think it would be up to Lilja due to seniority...... Though I doubt it would be an issue.

I think Andreas walks into the locker room this fall and sees #61 hanging there in his locker if that happens.

NJ is 6M in the hole in operating income. How did they afford Kovalchuk?

I don't see how you could pass it up. Your getting a Star level player. You lock him up long term, and barring any kind of freak long term injury, you have your lead dog on the back end long term. You have to do it.

We will give up a lot to get him, but he could be a big piece we have been missing. I'm happy with them just adding a couple players to this roster already. I pray Cooter is going anywhere. He has soooooo much potential. See what they want for Weber. If they ask for cooter, then say thanks anyways. Add a Garrison and a burish. resign Jagr, carle and voreck and start the camp.

Rangers are also in a lager market....how about tml with 80M+ last year lol. As far as spectacor is concerned the team value has grown by 150M since they bought. Bottom line is its all about the overall value.

You think it's a reach to think that if Weber becomes available, the Flyers will be involved in trying to acquire him?

The Flyers are always just one Briere, Bryzgalov, Pronger, Weber, Suter, Parise, Nash, Bouwmeester, Kovalchuk, Stamkos away from winning the Stanley Cup...

What farm system? What salary cap?
