I think so. Read is 25 so he isn't really a true rookie. Schenn has been around some too. Cooter seems to be a special type of player. I think it may not be a well as last year, however, I think they will be fine. I see Homer adding another scorer just in case. What's up with your defense. You guys are in the same boat with us it seems. - Deasr1
Schenn had 8 games of NHL experience prior to last season. I think both he and Couturier can be special players in the future. |

I just look at the Kings. They were patient and built from within, then they made the bold moves. I'm not sold that simply adding Weber right now, with the resulting assets sent to Nashville makes the Flyers that much better in 2012-13 - Jsaquella
That's how the Avs and Wings did it in the late 90's into the last decade. Wings did it better, but the Avs added some nice pieces, too. |

Agreed, however, we know Weber IS a special player now. I'm so torn. |

He really is. He could easily be very similar to Mike Richards is now in a year or so. - Jsaquella
Really looking forward to seeing him break out -- just hope he's still w/ the Flyers when it happens. He's definitely capable of being a mash-up of Dustin Brown, Ryan Kesler and Mike Richards. |

Agreed. As great as the 80's hockey was (best decade, IMO), there was no rivalry like the Avs-Wings from 1995-96 to... I cannot really say when it ended. 2004-05, with the lockout? |

Those were some of the nastiest games I have ever watched. It was remarkable hockey with so many remarkable players involved. |

He is. So was Pronger. There's always an inherent risk when you trade a ton of guys and picks for one player.
I'm not against doing it, at all. But I'm also not sure that it makes the Flyers that much better by itself. |

I do think he's a winger this year, full time, in the top 6. Especially if Jagr goes elsewhere |

It would be nice to have that rock to build on once Kimmo is done. Still, I love the team's make up. A lot more youth now with some serious talent. |

Absolutely. Weber's a 27 year old Norris level defenseman. Those are not common and it's even more rare that one is available, even for a massive return |

Depends on what the Flyers have to give up. I'm all about staying patient and waiting but Weber is a once and a lifetime type player at his position. He's the only player I'm willing to change course for. A lot is going to depend on Nashville but the Flyers will have other options ready. |

I would grudgingly be willing to move JvR, Jake, MAB and a 1st rounder for him. I wouldn't be jumping for joy at it. That's a big price.
I'd be miserable if Schenn or Couturier were in the deal. |

Based on Alexander Radulov's Russian agent, Yuri Nikolaev recent statements, it looks like his client will probably end up in the KHL. "Alexander no longer has thoughts, watching the sea, whether he should go to the NHL or play in the KHL," Nikolaev told the Russian newspaper Izvestiya. "We are negotiating with CSKA about a personal contract. However we are not in CSKA yet; there are matters we have to discuss with the club's general managers." Nashville still holds Radulov's NHL rights, although they don't want to re-sign him and they are interested in trading his rights.

Another thing, we are so good at drafting and nurturing forwards, not so much on the d end. That's why part of me says, get that mo@&%$fu*@er. We can always bring in forward help. |

That's a factor. Part of that is due to a lack of organizational patience. Defensemen usually take longer than forwards to be NHL ready |

I think that offer is great from the Flyers end. I wouldnt even hesitate to make that deal. I love Voracek and JvR but I'm getting back a franchise defenseman in the deal. MAB is no better than a third pairing player (imo) and the 1st rounder is at 20. Flyers can find two other forwards to replace those spots but players like Simmonds, Read, Schenn and Couturier will now have to carry the load more. |

Indeed. Forwards by 25 and dmen by...Weber's age. Oh well, I'll probably wake up tomorrow and see we got Nash and Jbo and just give up all together. |

Yeah, better to keep him along the walls until he can be trusted w/ more defensive responsibility. I don't think he'll be like Dustin Brown and get moved over to the wing permanently, though. At some point, probably when they start phasing Briere out, he'll be back in the middle and better for it. |

Yes, you get a franchise defenseman.
But you also lose two 22 year old wingers. One is a 6'2 200 lber who has 30-35 goal potential. The other is a speedy guy who could be a consistent 60 point guy.
As for where the 1st rounder is, Claude Giroux was picked at 22. That's a big price to pay for one guy. |

That would be my guess. Better to have Couturier be a regular top 9 guy this year as well, and see some PP time to develop his game, too |
