Your right I don't. Nor do I know if your source is valid or not. But there are only a handful of sources that could supply that information accurately. And if your source is that high up, then how does he feel about you spreading what he tells you on the internet? - MJL

Not that I disagree but even after all those trades the Flyers are still competitive and compete almost every year for a chance to win the Cup. I do understand what your are saying though. Flyers take risks and when they dont work out they still have the flexibility to acquire other players through trades, picks, or UFA. This team always spends to the cap so I dont see an issue with taking either road (that being trading player or standing pat). - stveshdy
The point isn't whether or not you can find some way to stay competitive, it's whether or not any of these earth-shattering moves actually get the team any closer to ending the Cup drought. Granted, this team has managed to stay out of mediocrity despite all these moves, but at the end of the day, we're still watching teams with far less resources and far less star power and a parade of former Flyers win the Stanley Cup year after year after year.
At some point, they need to learn that keeping what they've got together could possibly pay more dividends than making a splash each and every summer. We'd like to think they're taking steps forward, but the lack of results show otherwise.

Exactly... any knucklehead can say they know someone who knows someone... I had direct knowledge of Carter and Nodl's health issues during the playoffs two seasons ago... but I didnt say a word. I could have, and could have backed it up.. but my source(s) asked me not to.. so I didnt. Being that I work in sports med here at Penn.. I hear a ton of different stuff from certain ppl... As it turned out.. the person I was speaking with was right on... Nodl wasnt being held out because of the laceration, but because of a concussion... and Carter was indeed being treated with PRP for his MCL sprain.
If you have a source who is 100% and you are gonna put out what they tell you... use the source... otherwise dont say anything. - jak521

I never buy the "my source works for the team" bs. Unless that source is Holmgren its not worth didly squat. This is the guy that signed Carter and told him how badly he wanted him and then shipped him off to the BJs. Same with Richards. I'm sure he tells everyone else his real plans tho. Just not the Captain and top scorer. |

Right, but that doesn't mean that just because they're available that the Flyers are interested...
Semin is the #2 available winger, would that make the Flyers interested in him? Nope. - LordStanley88
With the Flyers history, and how they operate. It's pretty easy to specualate that they would be interested in players such as Weber and Parise. A team has to target players and set a wish list. They can't be interested in everybody. |

No doubt.
However, what I'm saying is that they're making or preparing huge pitches for them.
That's a lot different than simply saying they're interested in said player... |

It's a giant step forward if they can add him in a vaccuum w/o opening holes elsewhere now in the future. From the look of things, it's going to cost a king's ransom...
The Flyers have been making these giant step forward kind of deals and signings since as long as any of us can remember... when has it really worked out? It took them years to recover from the Lindros trade, then they subsequently sold the farm and then some for Gratton, then went big after Pronger (fall-out yet to be known).... this kind of thing can only go on for so long, especially when they've had miserable luck at the draft outside of the 1st-round. - Tomahawk

No, according to the CoC, you cannot decided whether or not to disclose information. If you are posting a rumor it needs a source... not a "I know someone who said they knew someone who was eating a fish taco in New Jersey next to Jeff Carter's old hairstylist who heard that____" |

C'mon ladies and gents. We are all Flyers fans here. No need to argue. I love to hear as much as I can. Whether it's poop or gold, I still like the ideas coming through. We all agree we want the best for the team. Homer is a very good GM. We know he will do something, standing pat isn't one of his better traits. However, insider..insiderr...insideher...it's all the same. Only the names have changed. Everyday, it seems we're wasting away. |

each trade is completely different man...you can't really take Lindros and match it with Pronger then match it with a possible Weber trade. i get the point you're trying to make, but each is its own scenario.
in most of the projected trade scenarios, you are trading from an area of strength (talented young wingers, available draft picks) for an area of desire or need (physically dominating leader type Dman to replace Pronger).
yeah, JvR COULD be this or that....and those draft picks COULD be this or that...
Shea Weber IS a game changer on the blue line, and he will be for years to come. he's not just a #1 dman. he's like Chara is and Pronger was (even in that year we went to the cup). yes, i wish the Flyers could just not move any of the players i like and just win the cup, but you can't deny that a move for Shea Weber that mirrors what is being tossed around doesn't improve the Flyers as a team. it automatically makes their top D pairing matchup one of the best in the league. that's 25 minutes a game you are significantly improving your changes to win puck battles and defend your zone....yes, COULD you do that if every other player just decides to "pick up their d game"? sure....but you DO IT by trading for Weber.
he's that good....you make that move if you can.

I'm speaking more in general terms, not CoC for HockeyBuzz. I could give two rats about the CoC on this site. - LordStanley88
I would have never known.
My point is that talking rumors and saying you know for a fact that the Flyers are doing something are two totally different things. Saying, that "Homer is in Nashville right now preparing a huge offer for Weber" isnt a rumor. |

Interested would imply, IMO, that they're going to scratch the surface on said player.
Preparing a major offer implies that they're serious, or going hard, after the discussed player.
At least that's how I see the difference between the 2.
"Interested" is a much more vague term. Does that make sense? |
