One thing I will say is that if we manage to get Luongo. The first thing we should do is try and send Reimer to CBJ for LA's 30th overall pick.
Use it to draft Dansk. Once Lu hits the age of 40 Dansk will be ready to step in |

I hate to break it to everyone, but based on Burkes talk today which is posted on hot stove, there is nothing on the burner, there will be no blockbuster trades.....another year of more downs then ups......we might get lucky and get 8th spot ...enjoy the summer cause its going to be a long season next year :/ - Sherratt0204

apparently this grigo kid could be 20. - noename09
My father was the principal of a public school in downtown Toronto in the 80s.
They used to get murdered in sports like hockey.
But at the end of the year, they used to do quite well at track and field - apparently it was easier to get kids out of various southeast asian countries if they lied about their ages. He figured a lot of these kids were 2-3 years older than what it said on their school records.
Imagine a grade 2 kid having to compete against a grade 5 kid in something like a sprint or long jump. |

plain and simple, I think most of us are in agreement.
option 1: Luongo
only if we do not give up anything of significance and only if Van takes salary back like Connolly, Lombardi, Army, or Komi.
If Van asks for anything else, other than a salary dump and a middle prospect, then this is a no go.
Option 2: backup plan
We are quite content to ride out Reimer and Scrivens for a year to see what we have in the goaltending department. This will be Reimer's chance to show that last year was poor due to injury, and it gives Scrivens a chance to see what he can do. Scrivens was the best goalie in the AHL in both the regular season and the playoffs. You have to reward that kind of play by promoting him to the big club.
Things to remember
goalies can be rather fickle. Big prospects can fail, and late drafted goalies can excel (see Lundqvist).
We still will have Rynnas and Owuya to play with the Marlies next year. We could potentially draft a goalie this year if we trade our second round pick and a player to a team to get a mid to late round 1st. This could mean that we might also have either Vasilevski, Dansk, or Subban as a prospect.
Essentially, we will have 4 prospect goaltenders (Reimer, Scrivens, Rynnas, Owuya), and if one, just one, works out to be a legit starter, it costs us nothing but time. - ILoveLamp
1) While I believe that we will certainly get Luongo at a discount, we still have to give them at least ONE decent asset. Kadri's that man, as he couldn't make the team under RW, so what makes us think he makes it under RC?
2)It's a viable option, esp. with Scrivens now ready to push. However, I wonder how much of a difference confidence in your tender has on young Dmen like Schenn. If we continue to get bad goaltending, it could really sink guys like Luke, and at that point it's not just another season and another goaltender(or 2) we've lost, but a good young Dman in the process

are you kidding? the only way we get the 1st pick is if Burke has traded it to another team |

Which teams would be in the market for:
- Lupul
- Phaneuf
- MacArthur
- Steckel
- Connolly
- Colborne
In my opinion, a few of these - especially the first two - have to be moved to deal with Leafs' most urgent needs (#1C,#1G, Size&Grit top 6 winger, PK specialist). |

I'm pretty confident that as long as he's healthy, he'll be effective through year 6. Afterwards he'll have collected much of his contract's value, and if he wants to, can just decide to hang them up.
I doubt he sits through the last 3-4 years of his contract while rotting on the bench and riding buses, not getting any icetime with the Toronto Marlies, when he knows he's washed up and hasn't got a lot of moeny on the line. Esp, if the alternative is living comfortably in florida as opposed to TOR. - AngryWhiteMale

You guys gotta give it a rest. Lu to TO is virtually a done deal. Its a good thing too, because he can mentor Riemer, who can be a decent back up for 3-4 seasons, then if he is ready, Lu moves on and Riemer ascends, if not, Luongo can be good till he's 38, just like Tim Thomas. There is no downside to the Leafs getting Luongo - cheap cap hit, cheap to aquire, potentially best goalie in the world, plus you have no idea how good Phaneuf and Schenn and Gardner will be with a defensive coach and a real goalie. - Jimmy_T
Welcome back.
