Luongo has already requested a trade though... Which pretty much means he won't accept being a backup
Gillis will have no choice but to accept garbage to whomever can fit in that contract. He's just trying to drive up the price... Obviously he's going to ask for a lot now to see what people throw at him.. That'll change - ejeezy
incorrect
he said he would waive his NMC if asked
he has not officially requested a trade.. again.. smearing of the truth by the media
Why? What about his game makes you think his production should drop? - Pen15
In the new system, Lupul will have to take on more defensive possibilities, and will not be able to drive the puck as much into the offensive zone as last year (playing further from the offensive zone, and more 'tired').. Hence I expect him to drop his point production..
Maybe everyone hates on him because the media has made him out to be the devil-incarnate... - A_Tree
EXACTLY. This is why the media needs to STFU and tone it down when it comes to the Leafs. This is also a big part of the reason why many players don't want to come to Toronto to have their lives under a microscope. If Grigorenko is a KHL risk, you can bet that the media will help that along.
I'm not trying to make excuses for the Leafs, but I believe that the Toronto media has done just has much damage to this franchise as poor management has (if not more) over the years.
Sadly though, Leafs coverage in Toronto generates money for every media outlet and considering that corporation's primary focus is to generate profit/revenue, douche bags like Simmons and Cox are going to continue spewing their garbage.
alot of people are saying that if this kid was born in canada all the chatter about him would be how dedicated he was - Dozzer
honestly, if a good ole canadian kid battled through playoffs with mono, he would be anointed the next mark messier.
mono causes such lethargy it's hard to muster the energy to piss

you can get killed if you get hit in a certain area if you have mono... this kid was playing (frank)ing hockey, you get hit every time.
And my sister contracted mono before, she barely had enough energy to walk, and this kid was playing hockey? A lot of people underestimate the affects of what mono can do to your body, and this kid still got 10 points in 11 games and thats a bust? wow.

I expect a drop in most guys production under a full year of a defensive system. Lupul plays a full 200 feet, so I don't see his value to the leafs falling dramatically.
