Watching "behind the draft 2009" on LeafsTV. I still laugh when Burke asks Bryan Murray if he wants Kadri. Murray says "yes". Burke says "we're gonna take him". Murray saYs "ok".

Wouldn't surprise me. I think the whole comparison method is silly. Example being Grigs compared to Malkin. While no one knows how Malkin would have fared on another team, he's proven that he can compete at the highest echelon. Grigs hasn't yet so the comparison makes no sense to me. If in 5 years he's putting up astounding NHL numbers consistently, compare all you like.

Habs would do well to get a Dumba or Murray.. whatever happens.

- A_Tree

Yeah comparisons are a funny thing and honestly, don't mean anything until you see the latter player compete with the same competition as the former player. Yes, you can compare junior #'s but even those are really fair because some years have MUCH better talent around the league than others. OR they're in completely different leagues like Malkin and Grigs were. How do you compare players junior #'s when they weren't even in a league on the same continent as the other lmao

Hey, at least it'll be a new discussion for a the first 2 days before it grows old and tiring lol

Hahah, the sad world of Hockeybuzz.

Draft is always exciting though. If the leafs don't do any moves, you can bet there will be some big changes elsewhere in the league.

I really don't think that ONE not so great playoff performance...where he still had 5 points in 6 games...is going to drop him THAT far. I'll be surprised if he goes outside the top 5.
- Domaju

EDM - Yakupov
CBJ - Murray
MTL - Galchenyuk
NYI - Reinhart/Forsberg/Grigorenko
TOR - Forsberg/Grigorenko

This is how the draft should go.

I am fine with getting either player, but would prefer Grigs.

Didn't you know Murray tricked Burke into taking Kadri instead of Cowen?

That's for sure. I can't see the Leafs doing NOTHING around the draft. Maybe not on Draft Day but not long into free agency I expect some sort of a splash to be made by Burke.

It's very possible. He probably knew Burke would take Kadri if he thought Murray wanted him. Clever bastard.

Yet they do it every year. No wonder fans have such wild expectations for prospects!

I'm not sure who the Islanders are going to take. They are a wild card in my opinion. I hope they take Frosberg actually so we can draft Grigs.

That said, they should probably draft either Dumba or Reinhart, as their need for D is much more pressing than their need for a forward at the moment.

If however they take a D, and Burke has the option between Forsberg and Grigs, I think he will take Forsberg...

Character, defensively responsible, character, scoring, versatile fwd, character, under-rated.

I don't disagree with you very ofter, B-Hud, but I'm not to sold on Grigorenko.

- AnnGee44

I want Faksa so friggin bad, lol. But I knew if I took him here, half of Leafs Nation would kill me, and the other half would call me a moron for taking him at 5.

I have Faksa at 4 on my overall list. He's my favorite player in the entire draft. Heck, he's my favorite prospect to watch... period. (Other than Biggsy)

There you go. Undoubtedly Detroit is another example of a team that got lucky drafting guys very late with super high reward. It's not a perfect science because you're gambling on human beings, but analysts have to justify their existence...

i expect Burke to offer that 8.6 million he was going to waste on Nash, to Parise
and save himself a couple of prospect and a couple of roster players in the process

Amen to that, give the 18 or 20 or 23 year old a chance until we find his Birth certificate.

I hope it's not drastic (which unfortunately seems most likely). If he makes a strong move to improve the team without destroying the future, I hope the media takes it with a grain of salt.

The combination of Backstrom/Harding (IMO) is a better 1/2 punch than Quick/Bernier. -acresd
