Like I said, he'll get us into the playoffs, but we'll never really be in contention, the team in front of him just isn't good enough: if VAN couldn't, why would we?

I just want to stay the draft/develop course, for ONCE, and I think Burke's finally realizing that his "quick" rebuild is not going to lead to a Cup in 5 years, if he ever thought that. McGuire was saying that they had a private convo when Burke first came onboard and basically said, "it's a real mess in here; 3-5 years, closer to 5 years, to begin to right the ship".

I just want to have a team for once with players that other teams envy, instead of always trading anything of value for someone else's leftovers, outsiders, and has-beens. The only way to do that is to draft and develop, and that, to me, includes Reimer: by all means get a vet like Biron to back him up if you feel that Scrivens isn't ready, but it really bothers me to hear guys like Lindback and Pavelec are "future elite goaltenders" when Reimer's stats (before the concussion; just look at Miller's stats if you don't think that doesn't have an impact) are right up there with them.

Realistically in this draft, everyone has question marks.

Yakupov's wreckless play
Galchenyuk's injury
Murray's offensive upside
Grigorenko's age and work ethic
Forsberg's offensive upside

TO finally gets a good pick and it's a dumb draft with not a lot of sure things.

Burke said he considered drafting by position, but after our last two top 10s, he needs a sure-thing, and he's going to take the best player available, whomever that might be (Reinhart, Forsberg, Murphy maybe, though doubtful).

There's a few nuggets later on in the first. Next year, I'm hoping one of Armstrong/Lombardi/Bozak/Connolly have a "contract year" performance and garner us a 2nd rounder or two. If Gaustad can fetch a first...
