Did the Orioles win that night? - rockychocbill
Thanks to Fontenot...
We left in the 8th cause we had "other obligations". That was the game the O's hit a walkoff in the 12th. |

Great. But are any of those guys gonna play alongside Giroux this season? - rockychocbill
Probably not, in theory JVR should be the player playing with Giroux. |

Of course you are correct. He would be LTIR'd and pretty much do what Savard is doing. What I was responding to was what a poster had said about the risk in taking on that contract when 1 hit could end careers and I was simple pointing out that if he wasn't LTIR'd and decided to retire he still wouldn't hurt the Flyers cap so that isn't a concern. - Flyers1218
There are plenty of risks in taking on that contracts, in terms of flexibility in the future. I'd personally be far more willing to take on that kind of Cap hit for a player like Weber, then for Nash. I don't see it as a true need like a #1 defenseman is. |

JVR I can get with. IF he plays the way he and we know he should. He can create some open ice for his line mates if he does that. And somehow manages to stay healthy. My issue is I don't know that he can. Ryan has barely missed a game yet.
I like Voracek. Just not on the top line. |

Easy solution was to party hard in the inner harbor, and passout as soon as you laid down.. Shower first thing in the morning (brought my own towel thank GOD)... and get out and back to the Harbor ASAP.
But again.. that terrible night was extremely funny to us the next day...
The cabbie asked us what the hell we were doing walking around Baltimore at 345am. He said he would only give us a ride back to the Motel because he was going home and lived about 15 minutes from there. - jak521
I went to a wedding in Baltimore last year...at the Geppi Entertainment Museum. I stayed at the Hilton right near Camden Yards. I thought it was pretty nice around there. Lots of bars, hotels and restaurants...quick walk to the Inner Harbor. |

That area was very nice.. I was about 20 minutes the wrong way from the Harbor... by cab... |

I think Voracek would make a seemless transition from Jagr for that line. |

The reason why I don't like that is that Voracek is more playmaker then goal scorer. I want more of a goal scorer in that spot with Giroux. |

I like Jake, but I agree with you, right now he's lacking the finishing ability to play on the top line. He's still young and may develop into a finisher, but right now he would be more suited to a secondary role. |

Agreed. Which brings me back to my Bobby Ryan thought from earlier. Who is going to play with Giroux this season? Can/should we count on JVR for that role? I agree it's the "logical" choice on paper. Just too risky given his ongoing, non-surgically repaired hip issue imo. |

Ohh snap from the Avs guy
With the future of Chris Pronger in jeopardy, the Philadelphia Flyers have been looking for a defenseman to replace him.
Apparently their search has taken them to the Avalanche where, apparently, they have called about the services of restricted free agent Erik Johnson.
Jimmy Stizzle (judge his validity on your own) reported that the Flyers are trying to send James van Riemsdyk to Colorado for Johnson.
Van Riemsdky is the left winger for Philadelphia that teams apparently covet despite the fact that his best statistical year is 21 goals and 45 points.
Johnson, a former first overall pick, had a rough start to last year but from Decmeber on, he showed the Avs glimpses of the player he can be. He became physical, aggressive and played all around good hockey.
Time will only tell if the words of a random twitter person are true but from this end, the Avs should be getting their money's worth, trading away their defensive leader. |

I think Ryan has another level to show. Keep in mind he wasn't always with Getzlaf and Perry. He was on the 2nd line mostly. At least he was 2 seasons ago when I watch 75% of their games on CI. Koivu was always getting hurt it seemed. Selanne is great but plays a similar type game in that he's more shoot and score, than pass and set-up. Ryan and Giroux would compliment each other very well imo. |
