Whoever has the most points generally wins the Norris and Hart, no different this year. Other aspects of the game aren't even considered.

Karlsson is a fantastic player, but is he the best defensive in the NHL? He's improving defensively, but he still has work to do in his own end.

He saw very little PK time, how is that not considered when awarding the Norris Trophy?

From the players point of view Fehr is a person you want on your side.

I'd imagine talks will have some ugly moments to say the least but hopefully they are peaceful and no work stoppage happens.

(frank) I dont know what I would do this time if there was a lockout.

Waste my time with family?

Your probably right.

I'll be pissed off if the season doesn't start on time. I won't take my daughter to another thing that involves hockey. Nothing upsets me more than billionaire's fighting with millionaire's.

Was just gonna reply and make the same point. I'd having a hard time giving my #1 vote to him over all the other great defensemen who already do it all.

Weber when you take in all aspects of the game, is far and away the best D-man in the NHL. I bet if a poll of NHL GM's and coaches was conducted Weber would win easily.

Not sure. Apparently, Giroux isn't a 1st or 2nd team all star either, and no Flyers on the all rookie team

Honestly, the NHL awards are generally given to the wrong guy. In the case of the Vezina, Lundqvist's play didn't merit him winning it this year, because Quick was better. But, because Hank's been a finalist for 4 straight years, they give it to him.

Karlsson;'s numbers were huge, but he's not a great all around defenseman yet. That's scary, but it should be considered in the voting. Really need two defenseman awards, offensive and all around

Congratulations to Claude Giroux! Goes to show how popular this kid is! I guess I am going to have to buy NHL 13 when it comes out!

Shocked to see Ray Liotta looks like a woman now. Looks like he had a ton of work done.

Yup. These awards really aren't important. Everyone knows Weber is the best D-man in the NHL right now, and he doesn't have a Norris. Giroux is one of the best players in the NHL, he doesn't need any awards to validate that, his performance on the ice speaks for itself.

It is a joke. Points should be a small part of the story when your talking defenseman. Id rather add up hits and blocked shots and give it to that winner. Hmm wonder who that would be

I'm not really sure what the criteria is. Obviously great D-men like Lidstrom has won a bunch of them, but it seems to me it's by in large the defenseman with the most points wins the award, and that's just silly.

“Four years ago I remember I played myself and I was real disappointed,” Giroux said. “I was like, ‘this guy sucks.’ Couldn’t shoot, couldn’t skate, always on his butt … so hopefully this year will be better.”

Giroux’s character really took off in NHL 12 and one can assume he’ll be even better in the next game. (Giroux said he thinks he’ll be a 90 in the game.)

Scott Hartnell made a lot of noise on Twitter about the online voting, which drew Giroux’s mockery. In turn, Giroux refused to give Hartnell credit and chose him when asked to name a player who was the most overrated in the game four years ago.

Not counting this Season. Of the last 5 Seasons, the Norris Trophy winner has only been the leading scorer among defenseman once. That was Lidstrom in 07/08.

That was filthy. I wouldn't trade Giroux for any other center in the NHL. A healthy Crosby obviously, but with his concussion history now, I wouldn't.

I think the only 3 players I would trade Giroux for straight up for would be, Weber, Doughty, and Quick.
