I wouldn't even do it for those guys. - Jsaquella
It's debatable. Weber and Quick are a couple of years older than Giroux, so you have to consider that.

Not counting this Season. Of the last 5 Seasons, the Norris Trophy winner has only been the leading scorer among defenseman once. That was Lidstrom in 07/08. - MJL
Lidstrom won what 7 out of 10? When you have a guy that is arguably one of the top 3 dmen of all time, then it's hard for anyone to beat him out even if they put up more points.
Karlsson wasn't better than Weber this year, and he won simply because he had more points, that was my point. |

Calder Trophy voting (1st-2nd-3rd-4th-5th)
3. Adam Henrique, Devils, 620 (3-19-59-50-12)
4. Matt Read, PHI 546 (3-17-45-51-19)
Doesn't get much closer than that. |

Whoever has the most points generally wins the Norris and Hart, no different this year. Other aspects of the game aren't even considered.
Karlsson is a fantastic player, but is he the best defensive in the NHL? He's improving defensively, but he still has work to do in his own end. - PLindbergh31
You nailed it. Shea Weber is a consistent 2 way defender and has been considered one of the best today for a few years now. I know the Norris is handed to the best of the year but common, a year ago Karlsson was lost in his own zone. I hardly believe he became the best in a year. |

Out of the last 11 Seasons, only 4 times has the top point getter among defenseman, won the Norris. But you can't win the Norris without being a point producer. That's for sure.
Karlsson was absolutely phenomenal as a puck mover and offensive threat from the blueline. As well as being a solid defender. He is absolutely deserving of winning the Norris. |

Hey, at least Weber will cost less in a trade now that he didn't win the Norris.... right? :/ |

Read's age hurt him. But I have no problem with that voting. RNH would have walked away with the Calder if he didn't get hurt.

From the players point of view Fehr is a person you want on your side.
I'd imagine talks will have some ugly moments to say the least but hopefully they are peaceful and no work stoppage happens. - ob18
I hope so, hopefully everyone realizes that another stoppage will kill this sport. |

I know, but they were damn close to Read being a finalist and Henrique on the outside looking in. |

If it happened it should at the very least cost Bettman his job, it would be the 3rd lockout under his watch.
