he'll go somewhere around 10. would probably take a lot of picks or our first and a young roster player.
- OrangeBlack27

I haven't really followed a lot of the prospects but I have a little bit with Trouba.

Realistically speaking where is Trouba expected to go and what would you think it would take to move up to a spot to get a kid like him?
- nastyflyergirl

He'll go somewhere 8-12... it would probably cost a player off the current roster (think Matt Read) plus #20 to move up that high. That's a pretty big gamble for a kid that is far from guaranteed to be an NHL player down the road.

Reinhart, Forsberg and Teravainen would be the only players I might pay that kind of price to move up for.

if they move up to 8-12 to take a defenseman, i'd do it for dumba. i think reinhart will likely be gone by then, but i also think (like i do with murray), that those guys are going first because they're the most ready. i don't think they necessarily project to actually be the best defenders in the draft. this is all based on what i read, of course, as i unfortunately do not get paid to travel north america to scout young hockey players.

No, the Flyers need to shed Bob's salary so they can add to the roster. By sucking up all that space spreadout by two/three players isn't trading away capspace it's taking it on and then some. THe Flyers only need isn't defense it is also adding a true fourth line which they don't quite have. They are in position now to add those low end forwards that can kill penalties, win important faceoffs etc.

You want to add nash be my guest, hopefully homer knows better, otherwise good luck with the Ea Sports Hockey team.

(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $68,021,944; BONUSES: $2,705,000
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $2,278,056

Further more, add a little more than 2 million as Schenn will never even come close to touching his bonus money and the Flyers are working with close to 4.5 million of cap space next year. Forwards are identical except penalty killing and 4th line extroadinaire Prust is added and Nash replaces JVR. Biron replaces Bob and we can see what this defense is made of all together for a full year, with plenty of space if Weber should become available midseason. Take away Timonen's money next year and the Flyers are working with around 10 million in cap space again which they would of been had JVR and Bob (who would of needed a new contract) and a presumably the 1st round draft pick was vying for the position on the team.

And again, I'm not advocating for Nash as I would much rather have Weber, but I'm simply stating that if Homer is aggressively pursuing Nash, it may be because Weber is just not available at this time and he thinks he can improve the team by replacing Jagr and giving Nash the playmaking center he has always needed. I just demonstrated the financials would not hurt the team, but who knows.

Boruk is clueless. If Weber doesn't want to play in Nashville, why would he sign an Offer Sheet?

It was 20 years ago today that the Nordiques made a handshake agreement with the Flyers on trade for the rights to Eric Lindros, then changed their minds and agreed to trade package offered by the Rangers. Ten days later, arbitrator Larry Bertuzzi awarded Lindros to the Flyers.

The Flyers' trade: Mike Ricci, Peter Forsberg, Steve Duchesne, Kerry Huffman, Ron Hextall, Chris Simon, 1992 1st Rounder, 1993 1st Rounder (Jocelyn Thibault), 1994 1st Rounder (transferred to Washington, Nolan Baumgartner) and $15 million cash.

The Rangers' trade: Alexei Kovalev, Doug Weight, Tony Amonte, John Vanbiesbrouck, Sergei Nemchinov, 1993 first round pick, 1994 first round pick and $12 million cash.

Because of the disputed trade at the 1992 Draft, the Flyers had to make their seventh overall pick with the selection they thought they was going to the Nordiques. They chose Ryan Sittler.

During the arbitration hearings, the Nordiques said they would not have selected Sittler with that pick and wanted other compensation. As a result, Bertuzzi's final ruling removed the pick used for Sittler and substituted Flyers 1990 2nd round pick Chris Simon instead.

A hefty price indeed.

But people forget, watching Lindros in his prime was awesome.

Too bad they didn't have the other necessary pieces, they didn't protect him, and of course the concussions.

Now we enter the G era. Barring some more Simmonds knee drops, it should be fun to watch.

What a trainwreck

As an 18 year old, I only vaguely remember the Lindros days. But I do remember that he was my first "favorite" Flyer. He and Recchi.

88 was a (frank)ing tank. One of the most complete players to ever play the game. The physicality and take-no-prisoners, mean spiritedness of Pronger, with the size and skill of one Mario Lemieux.

His game was absolutely mind blowing. I remember him not deking around a forechecking forward, but going THROUGH him Earl Campbell style.

A freight train. It's a shame his head had to slow him to an abrupt halt
