I can't see the leafs doing much this weekend, hope I'm wrong but I'm guessing thing will only pick up after July 1st. Burkie needs to be patient, aquire the many pieces missing (1C, 1G, botom 6 depth) when the right deal presents itself. Trying to go all out this summer and taking the 'best available' will be a mistake and prevent this team from taking the next step (competing for a cup). Even if Burke did go out and get the best avaible this offseason I don't believe we are a cup contender.... so what's the rush?

Yeah the only thing thats different is that this year is Burkes contract year. Sure he got rid of some "unmoveable" contracts, and actually got leafs some prospects. But he also took some risks that ended up being bad moves see- komi, conolly, kessel (dont say you wouldnt rather have seguin, hamilton, or knight). This year is do or die for burke

I see burke risking it all in a craps shoot and doing pressure deals that might have more short term benifits and contradict his previous stance. Luongo is now possible. Lets face it even if you don't win the cup with him, its easier to attract free agents in the future if the team has a goalie capable of making the playoffs. You have to aquire elite talent to attract elite talent. I dont think anyone says man I wish I could be on kessels team
