In no way are the leafs going to overpay for Luongo. If it's comes down to overpaying or going with reimer/scrivens the latter is fine with me.

I'd be happy with Reilly at the 5th pick. Solid offensive defencemen are nearly impossible to find. Its not as if any pick will help this team this year.

IMO, the leafs should draft at #5 , sign Turco to back up Reimer and trade/sign for a top forward like Roy, RYan or Nash plus a decent 2nd-3rd liner with some grit. Our guys now have a bit more experience and adding the Top Forward and vet netminder until say the trade deadline and make a pitch then for a goalie.

At the end of the day this team has alot bigger issues than goaltending

Derek Roy wouldn't be a smart pick-up.

Ryan and Nash would cost too much to be worth trading.

Parise is the best option, but most likely unobtainable.

^.. i'm with this.

aside from turco, man is essentially what cujo was at this point. but i believe the mentality is there. if an upgrade can't be had realistically, then find a veteran for free and wait it out. i'd still like to see em take a run at neuvirth, if holtby is gonna take the reigns on the caps.

and the roy thing. he's useless, overpaid, and not for the leafs. there's a reason buffalo is getting rid of him, and we've already had a tangle with their scraps. we've seen how that turns out.

Sorry guys but going into the season with Reimer and Scrivens is a bad idea. How soon people forget that 2 years ago Reimer started the year in the ECHL and could barely qualify as a blip on the radar. He played 40 good games and half of them we were completely out of the running for the playoffs in his first season. He then took a giant dump in his pants last season, I seem to remember 3 games in a row with a goal on the first shot? I beleive this guy can maybe find his form and perhaps becaome a quality net minder but he is hardly a blue chip, can't miss prospect. Burke has gone into the past couple seasons banking on his goalies playing to their maximum potential whilst recieving their worst case scenario and if this trend continues and he goes into the season with Reimer we are screwed and he loses his job. Its a gamble I don't think he can afford to make and one that I hope he doesn't take, I have watched way too many crappy games and I think a safe goaltending option is the way to go.
