Still, Schneider hasn't been qualified (to my knowledge), and he's 10 days way from being offer-sheeted. And he damn well better offer-sheeted if he's still unsigned July 1st.

Kessel's a very good playmaker, and even when he's not scoring the goals, he's setting up others to do it.
His speed creates space for other players, and while he's not great defensively, he's always one of the first guys back. He's not the one-dimensional player people like to say he is.

a guy might want term over money.. so he gets more term but takes less money per annum to get it

The only potential arguements against this would be

1) How does it affect their negotiations with Schneider?

2) How is their cap situation if Lu starts the season with them? Does carrying his cap hit prevent them from doing something else this off-season?

... I think Lolnogo remains a Canuck to start the season, and someone *will* panic during the season at some point.

I'd say the reason we need a #1 centre right now is not necessarily to increase Kessel's production, he's been doing that on his own. What we need is more balance across our top line to keep the other team's defenders honest when defending Kessel.

I still think its crazy for the Nucks to rely so much on this guy....hes never once played a full season in the NHL....total of 68games experience....a guy who could be moved for some good assets to improve their roster.

Im willing to bet that if they move Lu and keep Schneider, they fail again because goaltending isnt their primary problem, also cause Schneider wont be able to get them the cup in his first/second full NHL season.

there is quite simply no point

luongo MIGHT get you into the playoffs (the team still has to score and play well in front of him) but there is no guarantees

luongo is not the right fit for this team right now... stick to the youth movement.. ever since burke started the rebuild NONE of the veteran guys brought in have worked out

YESSIR Ive been saying the same for awhile, we dont need another big scorer for our first line....we need a gritty defensive minded guy. Id pay premium for Staal right now while hes still young and relatively unproven as a force in the NHL so far. Hes almost there. so nab him before he takes off.
