Tight spot or not -- $5.3M for a back-up? If he has other plans for that money, he moves him now.

He wouldn't be the back up on the leafs.

Unless your name is Chara, it's not that easy.

Oh, I totally agree: it's spin city and when I say consensus, well, it's as much of a consensus as it'll ever be. But forgetting labels for a second, I wouldn't put Kessel in the same category as Crosby, Malkin, or even Stamkos or Giroux (more so the former two than the latter two, at least at this point). I think that's truly a consensus.

Yes. Without a doubt.

I don't understand how Chara shutting down Kessel led to 50ish goals scored by the Bruins in 6 games.

rrrggh, honestly I hate when people say that!

Why is it that you guys only consider the Best or the Worst. Why is there no (realistic) middle...like they play good but end up around 9th/10th/11th and miss the playoffs and get nothing?

for christ sakes...the only reason we are picking top 5 this year is because of that HORRIBLE crash...I would hazzard to say that would be PRETTY hard to duplicate. (Not for the Leafs...ahahahaha.....yea, i get it).

- noename09

We have finished in the bottom ten since 2008. It is not unrealistic at all to think we finish there again.

I say we roll the dice with Scrivens/Reimer. Lou doesnt even guarantee playoffs, as he plays like sh!t the first couple months, usually heats up around Dec.

Interesting response to a comment about the suggestion that Gillis just keep him. Your contributions always welcome

Ah I see, well if they have the space there is no problem in hanging on to a star tender.

The Bruins wouldn't of won the cup if they had traded thomas the summer after Rask stole the number 1 spot.

speaking of wasted money... just 10 more days left on the Jeff Finger contract

at least that hasn't been on the cap all this time. Sadly, still 2 more years of paying off Tucker's cottage

Boston's game has largely been based on excellent transitional play. It's how they won the cup. Shut down Vancouver's arguably better offense and take advantage of their frustration on the transition.

"So all you need to do is shutdown Kessel and you'll win 60-3".

And when your name isnt Chara, its not easy to do.

Pretty easy to understand.

Nope. It was about pummeling the brains out of everyone.

No one really stood up for themselves or their teammates, so they took extra liberties.

Kessel's also good enough as to not let Chara guide his head into a stanchion.

There also wasn't the same amount of pressure for him to leave. It's different, common Garfunkel!

well, that's not entirely accurate... Kessel isn't tall enough to hit his head on a stanchion
