Totally get that....but sometimes on rare occasion certain players just don't want to play in a certain place.

Me...if I was a decent player that knew other clubs would want me...I wouldn't sign in Columbus or Winnipeg. Why would you when you know other teams where you'll be happier will sign you.

- Juice

which is fair.. but then shultz should of expressed this to anaheim at the draft combine

i am sure burke would of asked him if he'd be willing to relocate to california

it just doesnt sit well with me.. at least make an arrangement with the team that drafted you so they can do a sign n trade and recoup the asset

Yeah with the Anaheim thing I don't get it...been to Anaheim and I'd be pumped to get to play there.

But maybe he just doesn't want to be in a non-hockey market...maybe he wants the big city, big hockey mad atmosphere where he gets to see a full crowd night after night.

There's obviously a touch of selfishness in there...but if he feels playing in Anaheim is detrimental to him and he won't be happy...then he won't be happy. Tough to argue with feelings.

Toronto seems like a decent location.

We should have kept Kubina.

finger was a shame really.. on a 1million dollar contract he would of been a very decent bottom pairing guy.. but in a cap world you cant pay guys like him 3.5 per annum

and shultz.. no sure how i feel on him.. generally i do not like players who refuse to sign with the club that drafted them.. shows a strain of selfishness

- Dozzer

I don't get why everyone is ripping this kid as selfish. For one, no one has any idea whats going on in his head. Secondly, if he signs with the Leafs, maybe he's loyal to the guy who drafted him, not the corperation that owns him.
Third, In what other industry besides sports do you spend your whole life to become one of the best in the world and then get called selfish for 'writing your own ticket' In all other circumstances I can think of, if a person rises to the height of their profession, people say 'he earned it, he can do what he wants'. Personally, I am suprised more guys don't orchastrate it so that they can play on their favorite/hometown team.

Maybe Burkie had him so impressed at the combine that he decided he only wanted to play for him, and not that Burkie is no longer in Anaheim, and he has the option to still go play for him, he's taking it.

ever think of that, hmmmm?

ON a non hockey note, I am cranking the hell out of the first Stone Roses album. What an amazing piece of art. This is maybe the 'Monolisa' of music. One of the top 5 albums ever recorded? Id say yeah.

generally it requires you to sit out a year or 2, or go to college for the full term like Shultz. Most would rather spend those years playing hockey for money...

Also - the whole "in what area other than sports" thing is kind of a poor argument, cause only in sports do you get paid millions of dollars to play a game for a living. It's just different, and there are rules.

It was on in the restaurant while I was eating dinner, but the sound was off.

So the best part for me was remembering the kind of tie Eric was wearing:

It was a good time for ties.

Julie Stewart-Binks via twitter: Talked with some scouts this morning and they think there is a 50% chance that the Ryan Murray gets drafted 1st overall.

I wonder what the guy with the 100lb sac is doing today.
