um, not for nothing, but Reimer hasn't played in the ECHL since the 08-09 season, and he won the championship that year, while the Marlies were still undergoing the "Pogge" experiment.

Fair enough, 3 seasons ago he started in ECHL. The 09-10 season he played all of 26 games in the AHL, he wasnt the starter for the majority of the season. The point is he has barely established himself in the lower league and I personally feel alot of faith is being placed on him being a starting NHL goalie and I think its a little soon for that. I thinking throwing him into the fire as our starter this year is a HUGE risk and not one that any proffesional general manager can make. It seems completely crazy to me to even assume that, based on Reimer's history, he could be relied upon enough to start the season as your #1.

What do you want to happen? The same could be said for taking a HUGE risk on Luongo's contract couldn't it? Now apparently it's going to take a top 6 forward to get a deal done. We aren't going anywhere deep into the playoffs next season so who cares if we Reimer blows it again. Best case scenario, he returns to form and we make the playoffs resulting in some experience for all our players. Worst case we get another good draft pick to add to our prospect pool.

Sorry guys but going into the season with Reimer and Scrivens is a bad idea. How soon people forget that 2 years ago Reimer started the year in the ECHL and could barely qualify as a blip on the radar. He played 40 good games and half of them we were completely out of the running for the playoffs in his first season. He then took a giant dump in his pants last season, I seem to remember 3 games in a row with a goal on the first shot? I beleive this guy can maybe find his form and perhaps becaome a quality net minder but he is hardly a blue chip, can't miss prospect. Burke has gone into the past couple seasons banking on his goalies playing to their maximum potential whilst recieving their worst case scenario and if this trend continues and he goes into the season with Reimer we are screwed and he loses his job. Its a gamble I don't think he can afford to make and one that I hope he doesn't take, I have watched way too many crappy games and I think a safe goaltending option is the way to go.

Stopped reading right there.... no point in going further. If you are writing a guy off cause he played ECHL, may I remind you that the man that just won the Conn Smyth played in the ECHL and the following year he split time in the A and the NHL and then went on to become the starter (last 3 years). LA is sure glad they didn't pass him over cause he played in the ECHL.

EDIT: That trade is (frank)ing brutal. KAdri, Colborne and the 2nd on their own (singularly) would be a massive overpayment. That is so retarded. Adding all 3 in a package.
