Don’t ask me why, but Rick Nash and Bobby Ryan are both in play in Philadelphia. I can confirm.

Orest was known as "Little O", though. Not sure that speaks well of his prowess.

I want to raise a point about van Riemsdyk's development level when he's been healthy. If you take one full calendar year from Nov. 18, 2010 (when he was mired in an early season slump) to Nov. 19, 2011 (roughly the point that he sustained the first of his string of injuries this past season), you will find that he pretty much produced right about what the Flyers need of him at this stage of his career.

Excluding 2010 playoffs and including only RS games: 79 GP, 29 G, 23 A, 52 PTS

Including 2010 playoffs: 90 GP, 36 G, 23 A, 59 PTS

That is right about on par with where Bobby Ryan was at the same juncture of his career and is not THAT far behind what Rick Nash has done the last three seasons.

So why are the Flyers making him available for those similar players? Makes no sense. Defense is the priority.

That pretty much also describes Bobby Ryan and even Rick Nash as well in most seasons.

There is a difference between "making him available" and "being asked about."

Guess that means Weber isnt going to happen. Like I said, unless Nashville could get Suter to commit to signing if they move Weber, I don't think they move him.

Yesh. I just had a horrible thought... JVR and a prospect for Ryan, then Voracek and a pick for JayBo.... I bet that might happen...

He is a young big forward. That is a normal area that needs working on with big forwards. It takes them longer to adapt to the style of play, and figure out how to find that happy medium where they are bringing it enough so that they are a big impact, but not to the point where they cant compete the next night.

Yes but Rick Nash is doing it in Columbus where he is the main target of the other teams defense. JVR is not. I like JVR when he shows up and has that drive, I dont think he can do it on a night in night out basis.

I do think that its a dumb idea if the flyers trade JVR for the sole reason of getting Nash.
