Nash has about as much natural talent as any player in the game. 90 points is a legitimate projection with Giroux as his center IMO. - LeachHextall27
I agree. Nash could be a monster playing with Giroux. The Flyers would also use him in every possible situation. |

The one issue I have with that is, Nash is putting up 30 goals with absolute garbage as his linemates. I think playing with Giroux, Nash would be a 45 goal guy, if not more. - Jsaquella
think the linemate thing is blown out of proportion. nah, he hasn't had an elite center, but he's played with some good players over his time there.
in other words, i don't think he gets traded here or to ny or sj or whereve and automatically putting up 10 more goals every year. |

That said, my personal preference is to make minor tweaks and basically stand pat. I'm not sold that this is the correct juncture to make the big bold move, unless it's for a top defenseman. - Jsaquella
I certainly understand your point too.
However, Nash next to Giroux for the next decade really excites me.
Plus, Couturier and Schenn down the middle.
The thought is salivating. |

Okay, so lets say the JVR, Ryan, and Nash will all put up the same number of points next season... Do Nash and Ryan bring anything extra to the table that JVR doesn't? Are the Hard Hitters? Sound defensively? Leaders? Do they have a fire to win?
And the question with Nash is, if he scores like he does now without any help from his forwards, would he take the next step if he gets a center like Giroux? Forget the cap hit for a second. Does Nash on your team give you a better chance to win? - RooNosHockey
Next season, I would say YES. He is a better all around player than JvR IMO. |

The writer for the Columbus Dispatch says in the right situation Nash can score 40+ goals and have 90 points easily (this is a guy who watches him every night). I think those numbers would make it a no brainer if you believe that. - stveshdy
What if you were sitting in Columbus and a guy name Sam Carchidi wrote an article saying that if JvR were healthy and in the right position, he could put up 45+ goals, and 30 assists... would you believe it?
A writer is not by any means a talent evaluator, nor am I, but if the guy was a lock to put up 40 goals and 90 points, he would be close to doing it regardless of who he played with.
Thats like saying Sid wouldnt be putting up good stats in CB.. A 40 goal player scores 40 goals regardless of who he is with.. Nash put up 40 goals and 79 points 3 years ago... This year he posted 30 goals and 59 points... did his linemates get worse in that time? |

Does anyone else think it is ludicrous to include Read in any of these trades? He is young, a powerplay and a penalty kill producer and is signed to a very cheap contract for his age and production. I think just on his contract alone, Read is one of our most untradable assets. - Phifly10
I'd have less issues in trading Read than I would in moving Simmonds, Voracek, Schenn, Couturier or other young forwards. He came in and played great for the Flyers. But at age 26, who knows if he was a flash in the pan or can repeat what he did. |

How much will Giroux's next deal be worth? That's a lot of money tied up with two forwards. The money Nash makes is what worries me most. |

So Kevin Stevens would've posted those ridiculous numbers in the early 90's without Super Mario?

I never said you had to believe the writer for the team. I'm just saying its not out of the question that he could score 40+ goals and have 90 points playing with Giroux. |

You got just about 8 mill wrapped up in Nash alone. So much for the rest of that great core. |

Who has he played with? Voracek? Brassard? Huselius? Solid players, but nobody on the same level as Giroux or Brad Richards. Nash has also never been on a team with anything approaching offensive depth. On a tam like the Flyers or even the Rangers, teams wouldn't be able to load up to stop just Nash. |

Yeah I would agree based upon the players that you put in front of him. I just think if he is even close to the player he was last year he is invaluable because of his contract. I would just hate to see him as a throw in with 3 other players in a big deal to acquire Nash or Ryan |

My gut? I think he would likely be a 40,30 guy...
But at 7.8 mill no way in hell do I want that. |

those are good players. not elite. not garbage. i just don't see a giant spike in his production going from playing with good players to elite ones. |

he also wouldn't get the same minutes.
like i said, my point is just that i don't see a magical 10+goal bump in his production. |

Thats fair. Nash is signed for a long time so will his cap hit be a steal later down the road? |
