Sorta like Richards and Carter didn't work well together. We all saw how that turned out... - jak521

You like to keep things logical. Do you have any concern over JvR's hip going into next season? - stveshdy
No I don't.

I have this weird feeling that Homer is gunning for a top tier winger to play with G for the next 5+ years. A guy in his prime like Nash or Bobby Ryan.
While I agree defense is the priority... can you really blame him for wanting to get the best out of the career of Giroux? I don't. |

They were rarely together in Philly, no? And it wasn't like Richards was setting up Carter all the time in LA either. The few goals Carter scored mostly came like they did in Philly. Curl around the circle into the slot and let the wrister fly. - rockychocbill
It's about more then just goals. They made a very effective line in LA with Penner.

Just for fun, what if Ek is talking about the Canucks as a Flyers trade partner? Are the Canucks ready to shake things up? Kesler? |

Last thing we are gonna do is acquire a center with G, Schenn, Couturier.. |

I was about to edit saying "I know trading for a center makes no sense, but neither does trading for Ryan or Nash either". That doesn't stop the rumor mongers from coming up with stuff though |

Brand new from Ek...
The other involves the Flyers who are talking to a Western Conference team about a star player...maybe not the same star player everyone has been speculating on...but a big time player... the deal would be a 7 player deal and the Flyers would be setting up a separate deal as well. - Just5
sure why not, who needs some stability to let a team grow together? |

I thought they were going after both Ryan and Nash. Sending nash for a dman and keeping Ryan as Jvr's replacement |

It may not be a necessity but getting Giroux a legit goal scoring winger in his 20's to play with for the next 5 years (both ryan and nash) makes sense. It is just that it is not a necessity by any means and the need is on defense.
There is definitely logic behind the move though. Especially if it turns out that top tier d-man is not there to get.
Nash doesn't make as much sense because of his cap, but Bobby Ryan to me makes a lot of sense.
Bobby Ryan (hitting his prime) and Claude Giroux (top 5 player in the league) for the next 3 years minimum would be awesome. |

Doubt the Canucks are looking to move him, although he did take a bit of a step back in the second half of the season. |

Holmgren will do whatever he wants to do and we'll all have to live with it and hope it was the right thing to do. However, if I were doing things and no top d-man was available, I'd just resign Jagr and move on to next season, hoping you do better by having a healthy JVR and that the rookies get better. Then you have a lot of cap space next offseason in case Weber actually hits the market |

So what players out West would look good playing next to Giroux or anchoring our defense? I'd assume if it's a major move that player will be under 30 years old... i'd hope atleast. |

You wouldn't be open to acquiring Bobby Ryan? I think that would be a tremendous move if there is no big time d-man available. |

I think it'd require too much to pull him in. Anaheim probably isn't shopping him as much as seeing if a team is willing to overpay. I wouldn't be willing to overpay, but maybe that's just me. |
