I only understand and agree with the bold.
1- Why, if it was between Weber and Suter, re-sign Suter? I understand you could trade Weber and get a huge package, but you would be giving up the best d-man in the game. The talent gap between Weber and Suter is enormous.. Why play second fiddle.
2- Who says Suter is even re-signing?
3- If you were to re-sign Weber on a one year deal... wouldnt his stock likely be higher around the trade deadline? - jak521
Answer to number 3:
He is not the type of player you can trade for at the deadline...it would mess up way to much chemistry on the playoff bound team that could sink them before the playoffs even started. |

Just a hypo:
If Breeze was traded to the Flyers last year with one year left on his contract, do you attempt re-sign him?
And if so, what's your offer? |

I can tell you right now that if I were running a team, and found out that Weber was available at the TDL, I would most certainly be in on him. I would assume 29 other teams would be too.
What do you mean the best D man in the game isnt the type of player you trade for at the deadline? |

Bryz overall record is actually pretty good, and he also has a cup.
Most flyers fans are uneducated booing him like that at home games. Im not defending his play last year but lets not dismiss him as a scrub either. - Philly1980
comparing bryz's role in the ANA cup vs fleury is not keeping it real. |

It's funny watching the Phillies bandwagon clear faster than the decks of the Andrea Doria. None of these people seem to remember when they tried to sell us Ricky Otero and Juan Bell as everyday MLB players |

The amount you would have to give up for him--> probably 2 top line players, 1 second/thirdline player + prospects.
Thats to much for a lot of teams to ingest before the playoffs. You think they would give him away for a first and second rounder lol
Anyways in order for him to be moved at TDL nashville would have to be way out of a playoff race next year...your scenario is not feasible. |

It was a bit nuts driving home, but not as bad as I thought. The parking lots were gouging people, though. Saw people tweeting and saying on facebook that they wanted $80 to park.

Exactly. I don't want to hear about 236 sellouts, I want to remember when the team was lousy and there'd be more Mets fans at the Vet than Phillies fans |

what happened when the lights shined brightly on hm in the plyoffs? remembering the context of our discussion, fleury saw the pens to the finish line and has certainly earned more currency w/ pens fans than anything bryz had done w/ flyer fans and you know it. I like bryz's chances for a comeback yr, but let's compare apples to apples. |

What happened to Tim Thomas in the playoffs before 2011? Or Jon Quick in 2012. Or even Ed Belfour before 1999? Even Fleury's Cup was on his one really hot run in the playoffs. Other than that he's been an average playoff goalie.
There's reason for concern, but looking at things after one year is being knee jerk and reactionary. |

1. Yes your giving up the best D-man in the game, but if you have to give up 1 or the other, I would rather give up the guy you can get a king's ransome for as opposed to the guy that walks for free.
2. No-one says Suter is resigning, that is why I said earlier that I dont think Weber gets traded till after July 1, if at all.
3. No his value would go down at the deadline because he would be a UFA and able to walk from any team that trades for him. Too much of a chance to take when you have to give up a lot to get him. Unless Nashville allows teams to talk to Weber first. |

Why dismiss non-playoff teams?
Let me throw this hypothetical at you... say the Flyers stand pat.. go into next season and royally screw the pooch and are sitting around 10th.. offense has been great but the defense is struggling, and one of the top 4 are out long term.. They know that Timonen is gone after the season... Would they not be in talk with the Preds?
What about any other team? So many situations occur during the season, so throwing out a blanket statement like that just doesnt make sense to me.
Also.. any team could be willing to give up the needed assets if they feel he is worth it... regardless of when it takes place.
Also, where did I suggest "they would give him away for a first and second rounder lol"

This whole Rick Nash thing is playing with my mind. His cap hit is absurdly ridiculous at $7.8 mil but Nash-Giroux for the next 6 years would be an unbelievable thing to watch.
The goal needs to be to get a big name d-man for the future but... depending on what we had to give up to get Nash... I could get on board I think.
I really want Weber. Bobby Ryan would be a great alternative to Nash as well. |

Dude it doesn't matter...Point i was trying to make is: How the hell is he supposed to have any confidence when people are booing him constantly.....FOR (frank)S SAKE HE GOT BOOED after a shutout man....Fans that boo their own players are (frank)ing idiots....
How would you feel if every time you went to work there was someone there yelling and belittling and nitpicking you for everything you said or did good or bad. Im sure the quality of your work would diminish sir....Yeah hes an athlete, but its kinda hard to block out 20,000 idiots even when you do a good job.
As a manager at my job i find you can get a lot more out of people if you praise them than if you poop on them constantly. |
