Staal isn't worth trading for if he's unwilling to sign a new lucrative deal unless its with his bro in Carolina. Next... |

Apparently he will only talk extension with CAR. This could be a huge return for the PENS if true..sign and trade of Staal, WOW. You're talking:
8th overall + Sutter + Murphy/Faulk + 1st round next year
again, assuming he's signed. CAR gives up 1 player on the current roster (assuming they keep Faulk), and upgrade...good for their present needs. The PENS get a replacement for Staal with Sutter, and picks which can be used to get other pieces (like Ryan) or they can keep them and stock up the prospects (8th could be Faksa/Grigorenko/Teravainen), and the 1st pick next year could be top 12 too... |

Welcome Dave Bolland, because if we get anyone it will be a player like that. |

Love Bolland, not sure why the Hawks would get rid of him though.

I'm one of those who thinks the Sabres are going o make a big deal, just for someone who hasn't been mentioned lately. No Ryan, Parise, Nash, or Statsny. If I had to guess I think we might land Iginla.
It'll take #22, Sekeja, Armia, and maybe Catenacci |

That is never, ever happening. Listen to Bob McKenzie, Jordan Staal's value is severely lowered by the fact that he is a guaranteed UFA. Carolina isn't going to hand over half their assets just because they are lucky enough that he wants to go there.
8th Overall + Zach Boychuk would be most the Pens are gonna get. That is a good haul for a rental. |

I'd have certain reservations on giving up a ton for Staal. Not only would I worry about being able to re-sign him, but could he fill in a #1 center role? He's used to playing third fiddle behind the two best centers in the game today. Not to say isn't capable, just something I'd be concerned with. It would also force Darcy to move or re assign two of the other three centers. I don't want Roy or Ennis playing 3rd line minutes, and Hodgson needs more ice time to further develop. Could be interesting. |

Or since he talks to his brother all the time, will make a run this year with the Pens for the cup and walk at seasons end. Why would Carolina give all that up when they have the other Staal to give them inside scoop, and that is not tampering. |

I heard that Spear Kozak is available. Scored 86 goals in his final year at peewee. Now plays for Mr. Lumber.

I wouldn't give up that much for a 34 year old winger. |
