Im sorry I havent read the thread..have we discussed what Darcy said this morning?? got an offer for a roster player he wont move because of chemistry...that HAS to be Stafford....
I think Gerbe goes today.....I dont see where he fits anymore - Ripped Fuel
Unless they're getting a guy that's going to hustle the way he does and play with that amount of passion, it's not a good idea. We have far too many guys who are content to float out there and just let things happen, you have to have some guys that are willing to make it happen. |

I can see Hodgson as captain
Foligno and McNabb get the "A's"
Wishful thinking? maybe - RayHatesDomi
Future Buffalo Sabres
Foligno - Hodgson - Armia
Catenacci - Sundher - Pommer (aged vet)
Myers - McNabb
Pysyk - Ehrhoff |

The only players that I'm against moving are
Hodgson
Foligno
Ehrhoff
McNabb
I'd like o see the following moved
Roy
Vanek
Sekera
Ennis (provided another center would come back in another deal)
Everybody else I would be open to moving depending on the offer - RayHatesDomi
I wouldn't mind at all trading Vanek. I was hoping a package with Vanek would go to the Ducks for Ryan. |

just a thought
did Roy, busting his ass to be able to play game 7 vs the flyers mean anything, or does his rushing to beat the fans to the bar trump all of that hard work he did?
(hides) - homiedclown
Unfortunately because people always tend to remember the negative before the positive, I say it does. A real fan, however, will realize that he's more than a 1 dimensional person and that he's done both. |

I think it will only be a short matter of time before Hodgson surpasses Ennis.
If I was Darcy, Ennis would be the key piece I'd be offering in a trade - RayHatesDomi
I was all about trading ennis till they put him at center
I remember homer saying the Sabres' mgmt thought ennis was going to turn into a "pat Kane" type player... At the time I thought that was nuts...
Now, I wouldn't trade ennis for Kane straight up
I've seen enough of a sample size to think that ennis will continue to be a ppg player
And I think Hodgson will be sooner than later also... Vancouver was crazy for trading him to us
My point is... We already have two scoring line centers
The type we need to bring in is a "drury" type...
A guy who will accept the role of playing against other teams' top lines, and still score 25ish goals
Pavelski may not be available, but he's exactly the kind of player I'm talking about...
Think about it...
If we give up all the assets it'll take to get a "#1" then not only will we have holes to fill n not much $$$ to do it with...
We'll also have a situation where we have no center to put against those top lines from other teams
Hodgson has been suggested by some as that guy,
And he may turn into tht player one day...
But for now I think that's hurt his development
Way too much responsibility and pressure way too soon IMO
Let the kid go out and become a consistent scorer FIrST
Then ask him to round out his game
That's how I see it anyways |

Catenacci is actually a center. Not sure that they'll use him there in the future, but that's what he plays in Jr. |

I hate Roy, but he is responsible in both zones IMO. Underrated in the defensive end.

Hodgson is being groomed to be that guy. Lindy already had him working on the PK and I can bet they're going to really work with him defensively. He can learn a thing or 2 from Pommer on how to take away angles and stuff like that.

Stars Get: G Ryan Miller, F Thomas Vanek, Sekera/Pysyk, 12th overall, and 2nd rdr
Sabres Get: G Kari Lehtonen, F Lou Eriksson, and C Steve Ott maybe a 4th rdr?
We give up the better goalie.. they give up the better winger.. they get to choose between a top 4 d-man... and get 2 good picks?
Lehtonen plays hot/cold but could easily split games with Enroth until he is ready.
Tweaking is definitely needed.. I think how much money would be going to DAL would kill it though.. |

He had his moments defensively this year. I'm thinking it may have had to do with the injury. I think he was having trouble keeping up with guys. His conditioning just wasn't where it needed to be. He said during locker clean out day that he pushed himself too hard over the summer and hurt his leg so he wasn't 100% coming into camp. I would guess that would cause issues all year. He was doing nothing but playing catch up. Guys were skating by him like he was just standing still a lot of nights. By later in the season he started to look more like his normal self. |

I think Roy's lack of size.. plus having 60+ turnovers and only 20 something takeaways is what turned me into an anti-roy advocate! |

You gotta give to get... They love both Pysyk and McNabb but in order to bring back the top end talent they have to give one of their blue-chips. |

My thoughts exactly! Those are future stars not now stars. We need that one guy at center to round this team out. A big center thats a leader would be nice.

Those turnovers are a result of not being able to battle as much due to his conditioning. Roy has actually been a very good defensive player. He's a + player for his career. He gets big minutes on the PK. I think now that he's a year removed from the injury he'll be fine. I would expect to see a much better season from him this year, no matter where he could end up. |

Neither...the fact that this team played it's best stretch of hockey in four years without him in the lineup makes me want him gone. Even when he was healthy, he didn't make his teammates around him better. That's why I want him gone. |

..... Eriksson is young and VERY talented.. signed long term to a 5M per year contract.. 3 straight 70+ pt seasons.
and Buffalo is sending two HUGE salaries back.. |
