to be honest, im not upset with the Rielly pick. What makes me the most upset is that the habs got gally........... - peddy-93
I'm not upset with it.. But I think it could have been better spent.
I would've taken forsberg or Grigorenko. But if the consensus was that Reilly was the best player available.. I'm not convinced that he couldn't have been had a few picks down, and gathering the assets would have been worth it even of they had missed out and wanted to settle with dumba or trouba |

The question is, who should the Leafs draft with the 35th pick? - As_I_See_It
Trade it to MTL for Gomez or Bourque. |

For all the leaf fans who want bobby ryan(a few), I don't think he and Carlyle got along very well so I wouldn't hold your breath And I think he wants to go to the flyers, but I could be wrong. |

And you are only looking at stats! The difference is, the ability of Ryan to take the pick to the net and cause problems for the opposition goaltender. We have nobody like that, in our top 6. Ryan would provide that for us.
Kessel, on the other hand, is pure offence off of the rush. He might fit in Anaheim, because they already have Getzlaf and Perry, who both go to the net. It could be a win-win for both teams. - PrinceLH
Kessel is consistently scoring more.. Ryan needs others to make him good.. it is not the same...and I trade Kessel for a Perry not a Ryan.

Good pick although I thought trading down made sense.
No third or fourth this year could have been fixed. |

Ive kinda hung tough on the idea that Burke could right the ship... But for some reason, I've decided I'm finally not a fan tonight. Think his (frank)ing mouth has finally run its course.
I'm one of the rare ones that would love Nash. I'm of the do t pass up potential franchise players while they're available type... But I'd take Ryan in a heartbeat first. He's younger, cheaper.. And the biggest part? Wouldn't have to deal with that (frank)ing knob Howson. - joel878
You have a fine logic in that belief. Ryan is what we need on this team and an upgrade over Kessel. I lost faith in Burke, last year, when he basically took the year off and did very little. No significant trades, nothing at the trade deadline, took too much time to sack Wilson, mishandled some of the youth in the minors. Players like Nazim Kadri and Korbinian Holzer should have been promoted to the big club. By the time he reacted, the season was lost. It could have been saved, if he'd made the proper moves, like he had mentioned, in January and February. He still has time to make a franchise saving deal, but he's running out of time and it will bury him in the end. |

Ryan has no choice as to where he goes. That being said there is really no point in acquiring a guy who doesnt like the coach. |

Cool.
Seems like a good excuse to punt Carlyle. I'll take bobby Ryan over Carlyle any day of the week |

Kessel played without a centerman haha kessel>ryan at the moment. But why trade kessel when you can trade other players and assets and have ryan and kessel on the same line |

Besides the injury, Rielly was a safe pick. Grigorenko comes with the KHL risk and I'm honestly not 100% sure about Forsberg. Everyone wanted Galchenyuk, but unfortunately Montreal had a higher pick than Toronto... nothing Burke can really do about it. - WafflesAtACC
He could move up he did not we will continue to suck
But we got 15 d-man shooting for 16 next year |

"I think at that point you are looking at a possible goaltender or a possible power forward," says Burke when he begins day two with the 35th overall pick. "Having said that, we will look at the best player available and not the best positional pick." |

Well Calgary gets a 2nd for dropping down 5 spots from 14. Think the leafs could've done well dropping from 5th. Admittedly, I was never a fan of dropping until I saw how it all played out.
Seemed like a logical gamble of they wanted Reilly, and based on the price, the price would've been well worth the risk if they missed out.. Even if the blueliners had passed, and they had to settle for Grigorenko or forsberg. |

Look what Tippet did for the Yotes...I'm with you all the way bro. Plus I'm pretty sure Ryan plays RW. We already have Kessel as our 1st line RW. Might I add I love Kessel. |

So for defense we now have:
Phaneuf
Liles
Gunner
Schenn
Rielly
Franson
Komisarek
Gardiner
Blacker
Percy
Holzer
Schultz(to be signed) ...
So say schultz signs with toronto, he wants to be a starter right away and would likely be on the same line with gardiner.
Gunner Phaneuf
Gardiner Schultz
Liles Schenn
So does this make holzer, franson, komi, blacker all expendable in trades to acquire forwards? |

No sir, no shot at all! Sorry of I sounded like it.
Carlyle is to much like Wilson for me, and that's already failed horrifically. I'll take a front line winger over a coach any day. You can get a new coach without giving up assets |
