Yeah apparantly he was no. 1 all along.

Good thing they made Dudley keep his mouth shut.... |
|
|
|
The best part was when Burke said he was going to kill James D on TSN...
Classic...
Also, once again Leafs management sits back while other teams make significant moves...
Ugh |

Nope. It mean's we're not getting Schultz. - clarkysduster
That was my exact thought.
I figure the Leafs know already whether or not Schultz is coming.
This means he isn't coming to Toronto... OR, I guess it means there is an outside chance that he has trades for Dmen lined up.
With Toronto fans' luck, it means Schultz isn't coming, and Gardiner will be packaged off for Nash or something

Significant moves arent always the best thing.
The best part of the day is that Luongo is still on VAN
All Burke needs to do is clear out some cap, and bring in a vet on a short term contract to help the young guys... That and maybe try to address an area of need, if he can do so without sacrificing the pieces he has put in place to this point. |

youre going to pick a future hall of famer in the 7th round so (frank) off |

Absolutely fantastic pick for the Leafs! This kid will be on the Leafs blue line within 3 years. He controls the ice/puck when he is on the ice. Leafs will have Gardiner on one pairing and Rielly on another pairing each controlling the puck for 45 - 50 minutes per game between them. Very impressed by this draft pick. |

Datsyuk/Zettterberg arent HOFs and those two were drafted in 1998 and 1999.
if the wings are going to pull that magic trick again they better do it soon cuz those two arent getting any younger. |

Were you expecting the leafs to win next year?
Why do fans seem to think a team will go from 5th last to cup champions in a year... Learn to be a little more patient |

Leafs have too many NHL defenseman... I believe they now have 8 #1-2 quality Dmen... that includes Schultz of course.
Well done Burkey! |

Completely agree. Obviously we would have liked a forward, but i would take Rielly over Forsberg any day. Now if Galchenyuk was available thats a different story. |

Each controlling for 45+ minutes? Do you know how long a game normally lasts?

I legitimately believe they would have taken either Yakupov, Murray or Galchenyuk had they had the first overall pick. I always get some respect for Burke, then he does an interview like this and just like that it is gone with the wind. I like this guy though, I feel like he is going to be a top powerplay guy in this league. If Phaneuf can fix his slapshot to hit the net, I think Rielly feeding him can be dangerous. Nice to have to good puck moving defenseman in this system. (Him and Gardner) Schultz here we come?
Interesting D-Corps as it stands right now:
Phaneuf
Gunnarson
Schenn
Gardner
Liles
Franson (RFA may be gone)
Komisarek (Shouldn't even be here)
So it seems we have one spot open. We know its not Rielly.
It could be -- Blacker, Percy, Holzer? Or maybe someone we bring in through Free Agency like Schultz?
Thoughts? |

I'm okay with picking a good PMD but only if the plan is to move someone else like gunner before the season starts.
We need lots of talent at F D and G. I just hope we can snag Dansk tmrw with the 35. We have no solid G prospects |

Schultz is NOT a Leaf!!!!! Dumb Leaf fans should remove the TML from your avatar cause you know squat & are pathetic Leaf fans. This was a very good pick. Most knowledgeable hockey people know this already. |

A little yes.
Thought they had pulled it together when they picked Sven B. |
