Can someone explain how this deal makes 1 iota of sense? Flyers trade a top 6, powerforward with 30-goal potential for a defenseman who was scratched at times on a bad Leafs team? I know I'm posing 1 player in a good light and the other player in a bad light, but the fact remains that Schenn couldn't crack one of 6 spots at times on a bad Leafs team...

I said the same on twitter that Laughton wore #21 with Oshawa but it was a bit soon to be clearing way for the number.

In my opinion they had plenty in that area in Coburn, Grossmann, and Meszaros. They had a bigger need for a #1 and PP presence.

Cap reasons. I just can't see them having all that Cap space tied up in defenseman. Assuming they're going to re-sign Carle. And I'm speculating that they have a forward in mind to trade for or sign as a UFA.

maybe signing parise.... but i'm fine with that. i don't want them selling the farm in a ryan/nash trade

i don't think they are gonna trade brayden now though. you never know. and can homer deal for nash or ryan without jvr or b schenn?
