Lets be real, no one in here has any clue where Schenn's potential is. He wasn't drafted #5 overall and ranked high on boards heading into that draft because teams thought his potential was to be a #4 d-man.

Okay and I think there's time and potential for Schenn to improve the other dimensions of his game. If he adds things to his toolbox like Stevens did, then yea imo at least, he could be that caliber of player. I don't think at 22 years old the book is written on Luke Schenn.

No the book isn't written on him. And I applaud the optimism. But I think it's a stretch to think he has Scott Stevens potential.

I'd say it was evenly split on carter and most didn't like the Richards trade. I like this trade JVR hasn't shown anything more than schenn has.

Um, JVR was not slated to be on the 4th line next year. Actually a lot of people were okay with the Carter and Richards trades.

I just bckread 50 pages last night of that day. Id say put of 50 fans, MAYBE 10 were OK with it. I think u forgot sir.

We are stacked on FW. We wont miss JVR when it comes to scoring, so people need to calm down!

Never heard anyone say he was the second coming of Scott Stevens - that seems like a stretch. Yes, I too would be thrilled if that happens but I think that's setting the bar a bit high.

I also don't think JVR will ever be Rocket Richard. I think he'll be a solid top-6 forward. I just hope he doesn't "LeClair" and turn into a flat out stud for another team.

At this point we can't worry so much about what JVR does as we do what Schenn does. I think JVR is gonna be a 35+ a year goal guy but I also think schenn is gonna be one heckuva Dman.

I didn't forget anything. And neither JVR or Couturier were going to play on the 4th line. And Couturier is a Center, and JVR a Winger.

Whether we miss JVR or not depends on what other moves are made.

I love Brayden Schenn character, he never gives up against anybody and anything.

If his brother is similar I think we will be happy with the trade, otherwise...well...who knows...

Horrible move IMO. JvR's upside seems a lot bigger than Schenn's.

i don't know that it's horrible. i haven't watched luke schenn enough to evaluate. the flyers have had issues with jvr in one way or another since they drafted him. imo, it was inevitable they would move him. could he have been moved for more/better/whatever? maybe. i don't really care. they got what they got, and i can't attach anything to this other than what schenn brings to the team starting right now.

Coburn sure as hell did. So has Carle (technically third team for him, but he was only in Tampa for 12 games). Hopefully Luke will too. He has the potential and he is only 22.

Scott Stevens was a huge point producer in his career. He scored over 900 points as a defenseman. Was a big player in the biggest of games. A leader and a dominating player over his career. I hope your right and Schenn becomes what Stevens was. Then the trade was one of the best trades in NHL history.
