Im with you 2. We needed a Dman, we had a chip to use. We used it on a Dman who is in the same situation as the player we gave up. Both need to ratchet up their careers to squash the overrated/didnt meet potential sayers. Ill take the player that fills a need at D and gets to play with his brother. No ill will, best wishes JVR

It happens all the time in sports. A player has a bad season and suddenly his potential is nowhere near what it was viewed as just a few years earlier. It truly is amazing.

You don't come around here very often. But we've had numerous conversations concerning Luke Schenn. As this deal has been rumored before. And I said all along that Schenn is a good player. I even made a post earlier saying the Flyers got a good player if your interested in reading back. But I wouldn't have made this deal. Doesn't mean that Schenn isn't a good defenseman with upside to him.

I agree. I never place any stock in what some fans say. That was my whole point there.

But I think the majority of fans were happy with both the Richards and Carter trades (other than those with school girl crushes on them), the Carle trade, and certainly the steal of the century Coburn trade. So yeah, I think there have been many trades most fans agreed with and liked.

At this point, both JVR and Luke have underachieved to some degree. Doubt many would argue otherwise. The point most are questioning is who has the higher upside, and how likely is it that the player ever reaches that upside.

I haven't seen anyone post that they felt JVR was already a fantastic power forward. So I'm not really sure where you're getting that.

Wouldn't there have to be a team willing to trade for JVR and give up that pick to move up? There was plenty of talk of the Flyers attempt to move up. Who really knows what went on, but it takes two to tango. And maybe the Flyers will still be in on Suter.

Pwr fwds often take as long as dmen to develop. Jvr has shown dynamic flashes in his game and he was moved for a guy w/ a clear ceiling- think Matt Greene w/ better outlet pass ability. Not the offensive puck moving force we needed and the jvr asset is gone.

... And it's not like we haven't had time to think about this either. As a 1 for 1 swap, If jvr is reasonably healthy, it's a slam dunk win for TOR.
