Who says Schenn is going to play 10 minutes a night. Cap space isn't an issue. There is also a chance that Timonen isn't ready to start the Season. - MJL
Bill seems to think there is a pretty good chance Kimmo isn't ready to go by game 1. I wouldn't move a d-man unless we're getting another one back in the deal. |

Whos to say they dont resign Carle and move another defenseman out? The Flyers have plenty of money to bring Carle back. I actually hope they keep all the defenseman. Helps to limit all the defenseman minutes when your that balanced. - stveshdy
Well yes ok if they sign Carle and move one out, well then that's different, but signing Carle and keeping all 6 plus Bryzgalov is a lot of $$$ behind your blue line
$32 million??? As well as getting a back up goalie
I would like a righting upgrade instead of all that $ on D |

When you think about it the Flyers will be losing Timonen next year. I would keep all 6 guys if possible. Getting that 6M+ back after next year to upgrade a forward position. Flyers still have money to upgrade their offense this offseason as well. |

I know but think of what it would take to get the 1st or 2nd pick unless they totally blow this year |

I'd think right now anyway it's too early but Seth Jones is one that's already highly thought of for 2013
I'll say it now to make a move up in that draft will be pretty steep. |

Kimmo not ready. Well then that may explain it, then if he's out ok
We will have 5 top guys ready with the trade then if he's out |

Toronto beat the Blue Jackets in the Finals. Flyers finished 4th in East, lost to Pitt in round 1. :/ |

I love Hartnell and he was awesome last year, but I don't see him scoring 37 goals again. I know we have 3 line forward depth and all, but I would like a natural scoring winger someplace in this lineup. |

Yes, seriously. Because you need a blend of defenseman, and the right mix. And you need that puck moving offensive defenseman. All signs point to Carle being re-signed. - MJL
I agree Carle comes back. Not to mention Kimmo's $6.3 million comes off the books next season. I think this move helps the team 'this' season (by adding more depth for injuries, reduced minutes) and puts us in a good position with Kimmo's $ if a player like Weber is an available UFA next season. Grossmann, Carle, Schenn, Coburn would be locked up for 3 more seasons at reasonable contracts and Mez would be a tradable asset with 1 season left. jmo. |

Flyers simply cannot afford to trade any more pieces, unless it's a pick. Bob was our main "chip" that we could afford to trade. JVR wasn't quite a "chip", but we were able to bolster our defense.
Now we have to replace JVR and Jagr (potentially). |

I think your going to see more minutes from Read, Simmonds, Schenn, Voracek and Couturier. |

Here's the thing...
If JVR does not improve one bit from his current level of play, he is still a top 6 forward who will score 20-25 goals.
If Luke Schenn does not improve one bit from his current level of play, he's a 5/6 defenseman that will have trouble staying in the lineup on a team that plays an up tempo style.
Not equal value if nothing changes.
Obviously the Flyers think he'll improve, and in a few years this will seem like a fair deal. But right now, the players are not equal. I think that's what is bothering a lot of folks about this deal. Just have to hope the Flyers are right about what the future holds. - BringBack25
that's my read

Harts. G. Voracek
Read. Briere. Schenn
Talbot. Coots. Simmonds
Easy to upgrade winger now and drop Read and Talbot.
But who? |

It's said he may go to the Wild, they are making a huge offer July 1st to him
Per Lou Nanne who knows there owner.
One he will have trouble turning down so they say
