Gagne, Zubrus, and Williams pre-dated Holmgren's time, so I excluded them. Carter was 11th. - TheGreat28
Holmgren was with the Flyers when those players were drafted. He was Director of Pro Scouting, and then Assistant GM. So he undoubtedly had input into those selections.

Exactly. Did everyone forget about his big balls from last year already? - hereticpride
I'm only looking at his drafting, not total work as a GM. And yes, I know that drafting is just one part of a master plan and is affected by what they do in other areas as well.

drafting is a whole other ball game. the track record in rnd one is stellar. after that, not too great... - isaiah520
I don't believe Homer is depending on his draft class to help improve the team for next year. He will make other moves that he feels will better this team heading into next season. He is far from done with this club. |

Sorry - typo on Carter. Point is the Flyers scouts (and org in general) has a good history with picking forwards later in the first round.
I'm still giving them the benefit of the doubt. |

What does Pannacio mean that "Yandle would give the Flyers some real “jam” on the back end, which they desperately need."
I hope he doesn't mean physical play. |

Larsson came out of nowhere late in the season and was terrific in Sweden's junior under-20 playoffs for Brynas, and had scouts taking notice with his raw size and skating ability. At 6-3, 172 pounds, he's thin as a rail and lacks strength right now, but his development curve appears to be headed straight upward. He shows good poise and patience handling the puck, always skating with his head up looking to make plays, and usually makes very good decisions in puck movement. He's raw as hell, but has the kind of tools that project well down the road.

The Winnipeg Jets have acquired the rights to Jonas Gustavsson from the Toronto Maple Leafs for a conditional seventh round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Gustavsson is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He never lived up to the hype in Toronto, but perhaps he can develop into a decent backup now that he's been granted a change of scenery.

I guess the Jets are not depending on their starting goalie to stick around? |

OK, fair point, so let's give Holmgren credit for those guys as well.
But now, let's look at total body of draft for last 10-15 years, including rounds 2 and later.

Yandle would provided a threat from the point and a defenseman who moves the puck well. He's not a physical player, so Pannacio is far off if he believes that. |

Personally, I believe by July 4th, we'll pretty much have all of the answers to the plan for next season. I still think Homer is patiently deciding what Poile is going to do with Weber. |

That could be the case. If hes unable to land a defenseman then I can see him going after Nash or Ryan. |

It's funny people ripping each pick or move when they are all at this point development 18 year old kids and none of us have any clue what they will turn into down the road, if you have faith in this team, the GM, & their scouts trust they know what they are doing. |

Taylor Leier, 13-24-37 in 72 for Portland Winterhawks
Stacked team, hopefully gets more ice-time next season and can improve offensively.
5'11, 178lbs. Decent size for his age. Another inch or so and hopefully 15lbs and he's NHL size. |
