I liked the Morgan O pick but c'mon Burkie with the crap of "We would have picked him first if we had that first pick"... No way no how. Stop feeding us BS. I used to think he was always a pretty truthful stand up guy.. But that sounds to me like garbage..I like Finn too.. After that the others probably won't see the light of day.. Move out a couple of D for whatever at this point... Make room for Holzer please - Popcorn Kid
Yeah, that seems doubtful that they didn't have one of the russian forwards ranked higher. Then again (frank) I hope they are right! Please hockey gods let the expanded scouting staff of the last few years and Dudley running it before this draft have caused the Leafs to have a curveball brainwave that actually works lol...if in retrospect Reilly does look like at least the fifth best player it's a great pick

It really is a frustrating time to be a Toronto sports fan. Raps, Jays, Leafs, every year we are going through the same thing. One can only hope things improve. - Allstarzz
I know. It was this bad being a boston fan about 10 years ago. Now they've won every championship. New England was a joke. Celtics were a joke. Red Sox a joke. Bruins, not a joke but respectable.
Jays will be good if they want to spend money. The leafs will be good if they stay the course. And raps will be good if they stay the course |

I am so confused by what Burke's doing!
Rielly is talented, dont get me wrong, and Finn is a steal and one of my favourite players in this draft, period. But he completely ignored our biggest need and total suspect choices after Finn.
Toninato? That was off the board.
Brown? Where does he honestly see this kid going?
Loov? What does he see in him??
Rupert has the most upside of their last 4 picks. Look for Burke to give his twin, Matt, a tryout a long the way.
Overall, another disappointing draft by Burke. - uncleben

This pick wont help us for a few years and wont be a top power play type player for at least 3 or 4 years so it wont matter, we can easily get a top line center via FA or trade by then... |

I'm just curious what could be done that would make people happy? Luongo? They will complain he has a terrible contract? Staal..... we would have had to give up kulemin 5th overall and schenn (at the very least), for a guy that doesnt' want to be here. The key is he only wanted to sign with car.
nash.... price too high to obtain.
Ryan doesn't get along with carlisle.

Still a third liner. I dont like giving up on schenn until you have 1 season of playing him in a defensive environment. |

His production was more or less on par with Macarthur's. and I don't consider Mac a 2nd liner. They're both third liners.

Doesn't matter. Leaf nation is so widespread, there will always be debate on any move the team makes. To be the GM of the TML has got to be the toughest executive position in sports. Half the fanbase will either love or hate every move he makes. You see it first hand right here and that's just the tip of the Leaf Nation iceberg. Some of us want Luongo, some of us are vehemently against it and others are unsure. Nash, same thing. Just gotta be patient, see how things unfold, let the guy do his job and wait to see if we get better. As fans, there's really nothing else we can do......just hope for the best. |

So far seasons 1 & 3 were good enough to druel over. We've seen how good Schenn can and should be.
seasons 2 & 4 were bad. Sophomore slump on one hand and the expectations of a new contract on the other. I think his fitness will need to be worked on, and yes, a chance to get comfortable with Carlyle's system means he should stay unless we get blown away with an offer
Plus having to deal with both Schenn's on the same team in the east would be suicide, even if they're not in the same division as the Leafs |

baseball team payrolls are so out of whack I haven't even considered mlb an actual competitive league for years and years. How can you have some teams spending more in luxury tax than other teams' payrolls and call it a fair sports competition? I like baseball but it's sad that at the highest level of the sport there's not a competitive league. |

He of 10 goals? I know he's great and a great upgrade. I just don't think any of the anaheim guys want to play for carlisle.
But who does he play with? You think him and kessel mesh? I think stastny is the best guy to get. although leafs were 10th in scoring. 29th in goals against. What do we need to work on? |

I agree. gotta hope for the best. On luongo i hated it until i found out that he doesn't have a nmc. He can be buried at anytime. You bury him when he's making 3 mil 4 years from now, i'm sure he retires.

Call me crazy, but i read a theory a long time ago that the problem with schenn last year was we had a quick team, and he's not quick. Too many gaps had him over committing to be aggressive.
