Flyers wont pay Gaustad that kind of money to be a 4th line center.
Giroux, Briere and Couturier all ahead of him. |

I have nothing to base it off of other than teams that need to reach the cap floor will be looking to spend |

I'd very much like to see a Gaustad, Moen or Burish. - flyer_nutter
I also like Gaustad. You can't get everyone though. Shane Doan, Shea Weber and Paul Gaustad are the guys I have interest in. |

Doan wants to many years. Weber isnt available. Gaustad wont get paid big money here to be 4th line center.
I like all those players also but I dont see it happening. |

Say Parise is not coming which is very likely.
I see him in staying NJ or gd forbid Pittsburgh or maybe home town Minny.
Then if it comes down to Jagr for a year or someone like PA Parenteau who do you prefer? - Marc D
I will admit I do not know too much about Parenteau but I have seen him play a few times.
In terms of Jagr I would not re-sign him as it stands. If he would take a discount of around a 1 million per season, I would slap his ass and shake his hand.
For 3 million Jaromir is too injury prone, and that money could be spent elsewhere. He was exposed in the playoffs, and the Flyers need more of a defensive physical presence up front anyway.
His leadership and relationship he has seemed to forge in the fires of mount doom with the young kids is valuable, but not for 3 millon. |

And B. Schenn.
I think one of Briere or B. Schenn is a wing this year. I hope it's Briere. |

No
Everyone thinks a 500 team with loads of cash has no shot at a parise or Suter
Like the Wild for example.

I actually would give Doan the years, even though Bill stated he wouldn't. Doan can provide the same guidance Jagr did between now and when he turns 40. I don't see why it's as big an issue to sign Jagr at 40 and worry about Doan turning 40 in 4 years. Unless we're worried about another Pronger situation because of his physical play. If that's the case, I get it, he'll be a above 35 contract.
I look at Weber and I wouldn't say he isn't available. Everyone is at the right price and nobody said that he wasn't available.
Gaustad would a pricy fourth liner but I'm not convinced that he would be in fact a fourth liner here. We want Couturier to get a boost within the line and he probably will but this is far from a guarantee. By mid season, I would understand if Couturier was back on the 4th line if he's running out of gas and given a boost again by season's end. |

I think landing Ryan increases landing Parise and the 2 would no doubt be related, cause I don't think the Flyers are on Parises radar right now. I think it would take something like that for Zach to deal with the blowback of signing with a rival. Just a thought. |

The pens don't need more offense
They lost in the first round because they didn't play any defense
Parise wouldn't help that issue |

I hope it's Schenn now. Looking at such centers who alternate between the middle and the wing benefit from switching. Sakic and Forsberg. Dastyuk and Zetterberg. Crosby and Malkin. |

I'd love for this to happen but it worries me.
First and foremost because every other time Briere was tried on the wing he was a hell of a lot less effective. I think he stated one time as well that he prefers the game in the middle.
They need guys on his wing that provide that defensive stability. Thats why I think another physical defensive forward needs to be a priority. Guys like Simmonds, Schenn and Harts at times are bad defensively.
I'd like to see a line-up of something like:
Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Briere-Talbot
Gaustad-Cooties-Simmonds

I would be okay with Doan at 2 years.
If Weber was available Homer wouldnt of traded JvR when he could use him in that deal, imo.
Couturier is going to take on a much bigger role this season with the Flyers. Gaustad would be a nice addition just dont think hes worth that money to play mostly 4th line minutes. |

no on doan because most of his gm is about physicality, whereas jagr has some elite skill level left over. |

And they got rid of the wrong defenseman in the cap dump.
I'm sure they wanted to get rid of Martin but they ended up dumping Michalek. |
