The fact that they are looking at Ryan is obvious that they don't want Jagr back. Homer has been pretty clear he will make a decision that is "best for the team." They have now lost a first line winger and a second line winger. I do think that Homer is concerned about offense and I think there is a guy in free agency that Homer likes and is confident he will get. Now, I love Mezzy as much as anybody, but if he is asked for to acquire a consistent 30 goal winger to pair with Giroux... then you make that move (under the assumption Homer knows how to fill that role). An older guy, like Adrian Aucoin, who would sign a 1 year deal is perfect. - Flyers1218
They have wingers they can move up. The fact they are looking at Ryan doesn't say squat about Jagr, it says they are looking at Ryan, if they even are. I heard all this talk about Nash (another total mistake if was true) and we get Bob for picks, JVR for Schenn. Can't believe anything you hear in the first place, and have to avoid overpaying for players, especially if the team holding his rights is in a rather less than desirable position.
Edit: furthermore a similar deal would be Carter. We got Voracek and Couturier with the Pick they sent and everyone pretty much agrees that was highway robbery, so why should the Flyers be inclined to do the same? |

I don't have to dismantle my team do get him. Furthermore offense isn't an issue with this team, they score enough goals. Want a 30 goal scorer go get one FA without giving up pieces. Whether it's a pathetic deal is irrelevant, the Ducks have an unhappy player that doesn't want to play elsewhere but philly, they aren't in a position to ask for a fair deal. - JoeRussomanno
he said he'd prefer philly.... not that philly was his only destination. big difference |

Berger mentioned JVR as a center and a few leafs fans seems to think that's where he'll line up
should be interesting - Crimsoninja
Burke mentioned the possibility of making him a center in his press call to announce trade |

100% huh, big problem with that is we only lost one winger |

Im respectfully dissapointed with the amount of people willing to trade Mezzy. Thatd be a huge mistake in my mind. Best shot from thr blueline by far on the team. And the breif period of time he was healthy with Grossman was when Bryz looked his best. Id refluctantly give up MAB but anyone else would basically make JVR for Schenn trade useless. - hereticpride

They could go after Parise but that's going to cost a lot of money and you also have to hope he wants to come here. Parenteau is the route. |

I guess he meant Jagr but we haven't lost him yet, and he's pretty much tipped his hand showing that here is his first choice.
I agree Parenteau is the best route, no assets to lose and reasonable cap hit. |

I have very limited interest in Parenteau. I think he benefited greatly from Tavares & is looking to get paid, big time. |

if we're giving up all these assets for him what was the point in trading Carter last summer then? |

If they did Voracek, Ford, and 1st I would personally drive Jake to the airport! How do you not do that deal. Bobby Ryan is extremely gifted and because he wants out, Anaheim isn't simply going to give away 150+ goals over the last 5 years for free. - Flyers1218

Play them together, that way it'll be easier for the scapegoaters. |
