A lot of pressure in TO. Sadly I began to believe his best years would be on another team. I think speed and decision making (which can both be improved) are what caused him to suffer the most really. Wilson's system didn't really help him out much either. He was solid in his 1st and 3rd years... He had a rough time last year, which I attribute to growth for a young D. Also, he did not really have a stay at home veteran to mentor him, which I think could have helped him along. I would say, if he works on his skating and proper guidance #2 to #4 D with #2 being his absolute ceiling...

Again, I think you're def gonna love the kids character!

Lava's system will prob be no easier. It puts a ton of pressure on the Dmen. Thanks.

This is the type of deal the Ducks have made a year and a half ago.

The first domino appears to have fallen prior to the NHL trade deadline as the Toronto Maple Leafs have shipped defenceman Francois Beauchemin back to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Joffrey Lupul, defenceman Jake Gardiner and a conditional fourth-round draft pick in the 2013 Entry Draft.

Toronto Maple Leafs traded Vesa Toskala and Jason Blake to the Anaheim Ducks for Jean-Sebastien Giguere

If we're able to get Bobby Ryan, nothing we ship the other way would surprise me.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't really know what you're getting at here....

i think he means the dux got robbed in both trades and thinks the flyers may be able to pull of a similar robbery. i doubt they part with ryan unless they get someone to over pay tho

It was the last part of it that was confusing me. Made me think you thought we were going to overpay. Just the vibe I got. My bad....

No biggie. Lupul was an All-Star this season. I wouldn't do Jake Gardiner for Beauchemin straight up in favor of Gardiner.

Giggy was still a decent goaltender when the Leafs picked him up. Exactly what they needed at the time and the Ducks were willing to take on Jason Blake at the price tag he had? I don't even know where Vesa Toskala is today.

Yeah I gotcha. Can't deny that they were both diamond robberies, for sure.

That Beuchemin one....

We all know what Ryan has said about Philly. The Ducks have zero leverage, it seems....

Maybe there's legs to my Walker, Shelly, and a 1st after all

I'm curious about Ryan though just because you have a known unhappy player now thats out there for everyone to see. There should be many suitors which is a problem. But theres a chance that he can be had for maybe less than we think. I dont feel he'll get dealt this summer however.

Parise would cost nothing but cap space.....crunching the numbers the flyers can sign this guy to the money being reported.

they could, but then it depends on if parise wants to play here. pitt, det and minn all seem to have an inside track on us. but, ya never know. i'd buy a #9 jersey if we can get either one

According to credentialed Philadelphia Flyers, and colleague at TheHockeyGuys.net, Dustin Leed there is a "good chance" the Flyers take a run at Zach Parise July 1st if he is available. I still expect him to re-sign but should he test free agency he'll have his options wide open. The Carolina Hurricanes are getting better and better and are expected to take a run at him. The Flyers are a damn good team and will take a run. Same goes for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings. Then there's his home town team, the Minnesota Wild, sitting pretty with a ton of money to offer his way.

I will run down my street naked if we get him

i think parise walks. if he hasn't even spoken with LL since the end of the season, i can't see them getting an offer together and both sides coming to terms that fast with parise knowing atleast 20 teams will be offering him as much or more money a week or so later

i'd rather him stay in jersey than join pitt though. that would be scary.

Highly doubt that would happen. I hope it wouldn't. I think the deal has a good chance of working out too. On our end theres been rumors Pronger could be in a teaching/coaching role for next season, I think that would be great for Schenn. What's your consensus on L. Schenn? I thought he was horrible when the Flyers played him last year. Turning pucks over in his own end, looked slow, etc. I realize hes young but just seems like he struggles with the little nuances of the game at this point.
- Just5

If Pronger feels well enough, and is capable of doing this..I'd love to have him mentor the young D. So it'd be something like Lappy did while on LTIR. I'm down with this.

I am excited too. I am confused by the differing reports of how much cap space we have though. Seravelli is saying we have 14mil???? That doesn't seem right at all.
