Malhotra was the best faceoff man in the league when he was on our team, a part of the 1st team PK (which wasn't 2nd to last in the league like this year's version), and on the 2nd PP unit.

He was a far more valuable asset than Handzus.

Hjalmarsson isn't worth Marleau.

A lot of people have speculated whether SJ really wanted Hjalmarsson, or if DW offer sheeted him to force Chicago into an awkward cap position. DW figured if Chicago didn't match the offer, then we'd get him. If they did match, we'd just sign Niemi because they wouldn't have the cap for it.

Frankly, I think our D is ok. We should be looking to shop Marleau, Murray, and Havlat before the offseason is over.

I was hoping to hear more Sharks news before July 1st, particularly getting Winnik, Galiardi and Moore re-signed. Oh well. Here's hoping we have a big day tomorrow (but not too big).
