What about the player that makes the play before the player that makes the play, makes the play? Where the heck is his stinking point? - RooNosHockey
I've always believed you should be able to get an assist on a goal you score if you moved the puck to the primary assist-er (?). |

I think Parise is out of the question either way. I would look more toward a Shane Doan if he leaves PHX, which is highly unlikely. I'd be thrilled with PA Parenteau for a 2.5 a year Cap hit, and then a Biron/clemmenson/cheap back-up for 850k. Hopefully Carle signs for around 4.50 and Voracek for around 2.5-3 as well.

Parenteau just put up a 67 pt Season. You aren't getting him for 2.5M.

For sure. He'll be a GM's version of morning regret. Except he won't have the fond fuzzy memories of the prior night. |

And it's very possible Timonen is not available to start the season. |

Did he really have 67 pts last year? That's a hell of a performance for someone getting paid a little over a million. Well in that case, I'd still be interested in acquiring him, I'd walk away at 3.25 though. |

No because that would mean Crosby has a winger that can skate with crazy good hands. |

Whatever Pittsburgh does turns into gold. If they get Parise he will score 60 goals next year. |

I have little interest in Parenteau. Poor skater, poor defensively, and a step down from Jagr (even at age 40).

Plus he's more playmaker then goal scorer. And I think we have enough of that in Giroux and Voracek.

I don't think there is any merit to it. The player who makes the right play in his own end that leads to a rush the other way resulting in a goal is just as responsible for the goal, as the goal scorer. So many times a player fails to make that play, and then the fans get on him. But when the play is made, it's deemed not as important. I disagree with that thinking wholeheartedly. - MJL
I allowed in my explanation, when I said "(but not always)" in reference to the guy getting the 2A. But since you seem to be comprehension challenged, I will explain...yes, there are times when the 2 A guy makes a critical play that contributes directly to the goal, like if he makes a nice stretch pass sending a guy into the zone, or carries the puck out dishes to a forward who dishes to an open guy in front who scores...but there are also many times where the 2A guy is kind of just incidental to the play i.e, happened to touch the puck for a brief second before it was picked up by a teammate who took off, deked a guy made a beauty pass that was put top corner by the streaking goal scorer or something similar. The point being, there are more incidences of the guy getting the 2A not really doing anything to directly create scoring chance versus the guys getting the 1As and goals. If you're not able to see this, then we'll have to "wholeheartedly" agree to disagree. |

What I am able to see is the little plays that may get ignored, overlooked ,or deemed not important, as being more important then most think they are. The number of times an assist is awarded that isn't deserved is miniscule to the times an assist is deserved. So that's what I deal in, not the outliers.
I'll refrain from making any personal comments. |

I rather have Ryan but it looks like if we give up anything other than Bourdon its an overpayment in Flyerland.
Would you do a Voracek for Ryan deal straight up? I would. Anaheim probably wouldnt. |

Absolutely I would do a Voracek for Ryan deal straight up. But I agree, I don't think Anaheim would. I'd also be willing to include a prospect, or a draft pick. But not a first round pick. I would not be willing to include a defenseman such as Meszaros or Coburn.

I just don't think you can say that there are more incidences one way or another, that would be reaching. Hockey is too unpredictable, and too many "bounces". |

Are there any goal-scoring wingers out there in this FA crop? I really don't see it honestly, maybe Jagr coming back at the same cap hit isn't a bad idea after all. I've read somewhere that he admittedly needs to cut back on all the extra in season workouts, and conserve energy and stamina for the long run. |

I really hope the Flyers dont sign Jagr. A lot of young guys ready to take on bigger roles. |
