Nah we'll just go into the settings mode and move the cap up then save it and start playing. - JoeRussomanno

I see a lot of people hellbent on trading last year's Ashbee winner and one of our talented wingers (read/Voracek) who's point totals this year weren't far off from Ryan's, who is three years older than one, and 4 mill a year more than the other.
If trading a top-shelf defenseman for Ryan is so important (which it's not) then go find another defensemen before doing that. IF Ryan gets moved before you can do that oh well. - JoeRussomanno
Because the Flyers are so close to the Cap ceiling, you can't just go out and get another defensman before making a move. And I still dont see the need in making another move.
Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Grossman
Carle-Bourdon
7th Lilja
Gus/Manning call up.
If Schenn or Bourdon can't handle being on a top 4 line, then they get depoted to 3rd pair, or sit in favor of Lilja for a few. If major injuries arise during the season, you address it then with trades. |

Isnt there a rule that Ott and Cooke cant be on the same team. Just when I thought my hate couldnt be anymore.
That being said Id take Ott in a second. Great at faceoffs - aosplayo

Trade Coburn, Voracek and a pic for Bobby Ryan, sign Shane Doan, and a vet like Travis Moen for depth, sign Suter and Garrison...
Ryan-Giroux-Simmonds
Hartnell-Briere-Doan
Schenn-Couturier-Read
Moen-Talbot-Wellwood
Suter-Timonen
Grossman-Meszaros
Garrisson-Schenn
Sign Scott Clemenson as a backup, and this would set them up to go after Weber next season after Timonen retires. I know it's not likely... Just playing fantasy GM. |

First you don't even know what shape Timmonen is going to be in. Second every year our d is depleted and we have to resort on a Phantom/phantoms playing the 5/6 spots. Third defensemen are more important than wingers and I thought Flyers fans of all people should realize that by now. Bourdon's already had two conky's in one year so I'm not trying to climb out on that limb to bring in a player I don't need.

Traded. For Ryan, or whatever have you. Seriously right now your 3rd pairing is making a combined 7.1 million.... You cant have that. Just like you need some value forwards like Read, Couturier, etc... you need your value d-man to play as well. You need someone like Bourdon, Gus, or Lilja to make your cap more managable. |

No Bobby Ryan would be a 40 plus goal scorer for the next 8 seasons if he were playing with Giroux. |

- Tom Sestito, $550k, 5 games played
Others
- Gustafsson, 30 games
- Brandon Manning, 4 games
Also need to keep in mind that the following players are on two-way deals so they only account for the amount of days they were on the roster last season...
- Schenn, 3.11m, 54 games (pretty sure his cap hit was much less cause he started in AHL)
- Couturiere, 1.375m, 77 games

***Everything is based off of days, NOT games. So to do the calculation is nearly impossible. |

he's been playing with Getzlaf and Perry.....they aren't slouches...

We do need a forward now that Jagr is a FA and JVR is gone, and we do have 9 NHL dmen (if Carle resigns as planned)
I suggested Mueller or Latendresse. Id like Latendresse because he's a huge body who can also score. Hell, Ill take both. Both are still fairly young, will come cheap and on short term deals. Yeah, yeah, I know. Injuries. It's not like they are major players here though. Our offense is set before they're even added. They'd be complimentary guys here.
I'm stating now I want nothing to do with Bobby Ryan, because I dont think that's what this team needs right now. At this point, we need to resign Carle and Jake, a back-up goalie, and 1 forward, preferably a bigger body for the bottom six.
Watch the ball homer, the pitchers throwing non-sense. Take the walk. Hit your homerun next year when theres a different guy on the mound who's throwing meatballs at you. |

The defenseman were not a problem last year as much as team defense was, and we were fighting injuries all year. Coburn, Meszaros, Timonen... If there is an injury, you move the 5th d-man (Grossman, Coburn, Carle, Schenn) whoever that 5th guy is up to the 4th spot and yes you play a lilja in limited time and limited situations. All teams do that. You can't just have all your defensman making 4 million plus in a cap world.
Do we need a Ryan? No. But if your going to pay Voracek 3.5 and Ryan is only 2 million more and can score a minimum 15 more goals a year.... I want my money to be spent on top line players. Not guys making 3.5 million that might play 2nd or 3rd line. |

Just because Holmgren keeps saying he is confident they are going to re-sign Carle does not mean anything. Since when did we take Holmgren for his word? Him coming out and saying he is confident they are going to re-sign Carle actually implies to me that they are not going to re-sign him.
