I see you still cannot come up with your own deals.
Last year no one thought that Reiger could get a bag of $!@# for Butler and Byron. What did he get is a seasoned defenseman and now a draft choice that is probably better than Butler is right now.

My point on ethnicity... Is Grigorenko Russian, then you need to get someone who is going to make him comfortable here. Czechs and slavs don't usually get along, let alone Finns and Russians and Latvians......so good luck to us if Armia and the Gs ever end up playing on the same line together

Ott and Morrow for Roy and Enroth is a possible trade;
Ott for Adam and Brennan is also a good value....very similay to Byron and Butler who many of you thought we should be giving up a seond pick with in order to get Reigher.

I know you are "special" but did you forget that we took their 3 mil floating turd off of their roster so that they could save money? that was the biggest reason Calgary was willing to make that trade with buffalo..

Don't post a lot, but read the posts everyday (I think yesterday's was 43 pages) anyway, I like the idea of getting Ott and think Roy and Adam would work or maybe Roy and Gerbe. Dallas only has 7 F and 4 D signed with the only Cs being Fiddler and Vincour. Maybe we could trade Roy, Adam, Gerbe and Sekera for Ott and Morrow.
The other thing I wanted to add to the conversation was regarding today's Devils' blog that says with their financial situation, if they resign Parise they would move Kovalchuk. What do you think it would take to get Kovy and would you like him on the team? The offer would have to start with Vanek and probably have to include at least a few prospects. Kovy is the only forward signed past this year for NJ. Maybe we can send them Stafford to play with his buddy or Enroth so after this year their goalie tandem could be fellow countrymen with Hedberg and Enroth. How about Vanek, Stafford, Enroth plus a prospect or pick for Kovy and Henrique. Kovy is getting $10m+ for the next 6 years, but his cap hit is $6.667. Having a fellow Red to play with Grigorenko would be good. Heck, if you make that move, then go for Semin as well. A top line of Semin, Grigs and Kovy could be scary for years.

I would not want Kovalchoke either.
He could be a major cancer, and a pricy one.
Semin is absolutely a NO.

Not sure where he gets the bad rap for being a cancer. He played for 8 years for Atlanta with no support and still averaged over 40 goals and twice had 52. Being traded to NJ, I've hard nothing but good thing from his teammates. Heck, he even alowed Max to have his best seasob in 5 years for the time they played together. As for Semin being lazy, I think a line of Kovy, Grigs and Semin would make all 3 players better. They would have something to prove. Think of how well the Russians played together in Detroit. I'm not comparing these 3 to the guys from the Wings, but when they played together, they were the elite line in the NHL. It's all about the chemistry.

i think you might need to give more than just roy, but those two moves instantly make our team tougher.. plus the fact that foligno should be up we would have three bigger bodies up front.. all we need is to toughen up on the back end.

yeah if they do that, there is no pressure on the kid to play this year, ott can handle 3rd line

the next step would then be to change the lw'ers on the roster (vanek and leino)
and toughen up the wussies on the blue line

or give our goalie a change of scenery

if they got doan for 2 years, no rush to get Armia up here for the 2013-14 season, which is a good thing IMO

So I'm kinda torn on who I would prefer; Shane Doan or Brendan Morrow.

Morrow: 2 years younger, cheaper, leader, tough, team guy. Hurt more often, not as productive..

Doan: unquestioned leader, more productive. More expensive, reluctant to move, big time Christian (blehhhh), 2 years older.

Who's the better fit for this team ? I love the idea of making a pitch for Morrow AND Ott if possible. These guys would pay HUGE dividends on a team like the Sabres. Been missing character in that locker room for TOO long now..

all 3 would work out great

esp if they could move or bury leino

could you imagine rolling those 3 out for the third line, or line C

This, and with all the young faces in the room, we need to get some fast, before they turn into le core 2.0.

The belt still seems tight, it may be a long slow process with the jalapeƱos....

Anyway, I hear were trading for Kovy now? Might be a good mentor got The Gringo.

I'm willing to give leino another chance this season, with said character added to the room. The guy's a follower, played great with the characters in philly, blended in with the gutless boys here. Give him a strong/tough leader, I think he'll step up to the plate.

as long as ruff is the coach of this team, there will never be a line of russians on it. ruff does not like russians due to their style of play clashing with his d-first, play all 3 zones mentality. a line of kovy grigs semin might score every other shift, but they would also be getting scored on every other shift. no responsible defensive play from semin or kovy at all.

move vanek for a d man then?

top 3 lws are morrow, foligno and leino

lines

morrow, coho, pommer
folgino, ennis, staff
leino, ott, doan

if the kid shines put ott on a 4th line and play him second team pp and second team pk

i like doan a lot more for what he brings, but dont think the drop off is huge between him and morrow. im also siding with morrow/ott because theyre much easier to have than doan, IMO. a deal could be had easily to get both of them from dallas.

imagine if a deal involved sending leino back to dallas for those two guys??
