im not even talking about throwing the first punch. those 2 need someone who can play the body, control the puck down low along the boards, and then get it to them for a shot. a big body who likes to use it and has some hands.
- adubs14

I meant the first punch more along the lines of keeping the top line physically involved in the game. Nothing made me madder than Van/Pom/Roy skating away like a bunch of pussies when someone started pushing them around.

Im late to this but what a joke. Trading a 60+point center and a real decent defenceman for an aging agitator that will put up 30 points? Get out of here. oh and btw lucic would beat the $hit out of him

he will be 33 when the next season starts, assuming we have one

missed 5 games in 7 years for the sharks and still puts up a point per game

I would go all in on him for 2 years, if the goal is to win a cup with miller in net

Sure, sometimes I forget that you're not required to sign players to 15 year contracts.

Kaleta beat the poop out of Ott a few years ago...

Ott is just more skilled than Kaleta and plays a gritty game all around.

This is why I cant wait for the "core" to be gone. You dont have to fight but at least stand up for yourself by shoving someone

See its their bankruptcy part that really makes me believe that there is no way they will be able to give Parise a long term 7+M contract.... especially a huge front loaded one that he would get on the open market... not to mention Kovy being the only forward signed after this next season. He has to realize that team is heading toward rebuilding with Brodeur's retirement and pending bankruptcy. If he wants to win a cup immediately.. its not in NJ.
- JVince11

in all fairness, it almost was NJ. I'd still much rather get Parise than Kovy anyway though.

Ott is what he is but at this point i think we need rid ourselves of Roy no matter what.. they need to change the dynamic of that room and moving him is a good way to start that..

I know it almost was... I am not disrespecting their improbable run they made this year.. but that roster has all but 5 contracts expiring in 2 years. In addition to the likelyhood that one of the best goalies of all time will be gone by then and they do not have a pipeline goalie.

Might take moving the other head case also to show some sort of change.

Why would we trade for Roy? We just traded ribs away to get a younger center to play with benn. They would want NHL ready prospects and picks. Unless its a deal for Roy and Vanek
- NoobasaurusRex

For Ott and Morrow, sure.

I think a lot of people want to throw Roy in if Morrow is coming back.. but if we are talking about just trading for Ott..

I wouldn't give up more than Adam, Brennan, and maybe a 2nd.

I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area so I get to see a lot of the Stars and Ott. Sure he can get you around 15 goals a season and we all know he can aggitate. But he brings so much more then that I have seen him change the dynamic of the game with out finding the score sheet or fighting. He goats teams into taking bad penalties and he's a great team player/leader. He goes out and takes one for the team every night.

Also I'm new to hockeybuzz and I know I'm a little late with this topic.

yep

he is all over the ice on their second team pp
all over the ice on pk

back checks as good as any player in the nhl

I have watched many stars games just to see him play

If they gave him a bigger role, he could be a 55 point player

Why no matter what? I am all for trading him but not for nothing. He is a good player going into a contract year.

Like I said... unless Morrow or another piece is coming back..

trading Roy or Sekera is wayyyyy too much.

Adam, Brennan, and a 2nd rounder... tops out for me.

Exactly I don't think he will get a bigger role in Buffalo though, do you?
Sure he'll be on the pp and pk but I don't think he gets a crack at the top 6.

I agree that is asking a lot, I think they would be in the market for a young defenseman.
