You should see some of the tools on here claiming Burke only wants Americans...it's very hard to debate facts with some people that are unwilling to accept them. - Pen15
scouts draft. Look at the current roster. That's all Burke |

Burke moved our projected asset in Schenn, good solid Canadian boy, for the Flyers projected asset in JVR, a lazy American.
Sorry for embarassing you.

Really? where did i say I agree with Cherry, I will wait for you to find the post.
I stated a fact, you seem to have a problem with comprehension. - LeafMan
This whole discussion began with a referance to Cherry, did it not??
So it is your belief, that if the Leafs put out 20 ontario born players that are in their system, then they would perform better? Is that what you are implying??
Why isn't every single ontario born kid not clamouring to play for the Leafs?? Wouldn't they want to play their little hearts out playing in front of their friends and family??

JVR clearly has more upside than Schenn. Love Schenn for how he sticks up for his mates, but he, flat out, doesn't think the game very well.
You won't find too many people who think Schenn is a better hockey player than JVR. |

You're telling me Burke doesn't have oversight over his own staff?
Like it or not, Burke makes the final calls...he's proven over the years that he drafts, trades and signs the players he thinks would fit his club the best...irrespective of their nationality. |

the issue here is that ontario born players make up 75% of the canadian born players
so people question why burke has.. well.. none
he's way off the ratio when it comes to that.. but i agree with burke that place of birth shouldnt matter.. what i dont like is how he says that and then turns around and says he prefers north american players.. its really my one major beef with him.. his stance on this is hypocritical.

Was there talk of this happening? - JSC
Yep. Still a rumor as of now though. There was talk of the Windsor Spitfires being interested in him too. |

Again, go back and read what I wrote, I said simply said that the Leafs have zero Ontario born players on their roster to close out the year, not once did I say Burke is an anti-Ontario, I was merely pointing out a stat.
I could care less where a players come from, I want to see talent and character throughout the lineup regardless of what is on their birth certificate, anyone here that knows me, knows I have never said anything about where players come from, never. |

Making the referance that the Leafs had zero Ontario players contradicts what you just said
If it didn't matter to you, then why bother even posting an irrelevant stat? |
