I'd ask for Matt Read and a first round pick... I mean they probably ask for B Schenn or Couts but that's not realistic for the Flyers. Don't know if Read and a first would be enough for a top four puck moving defensman. Hjalmarsson had some struggles this year though. - Marc D
not only do i not want to give up read but we need wingers, stat! |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Carle's Worth, Prospect Camp - bmeltzer
The most prudent path if they stand to lose Carle, and I'm not saying that the Flyers would take this based on their recent history, would be to stand pat.
The cost of overpaying for a Plan B, Plan C etc is greater than just starting the season with Gus/MAB/Lilja holding down the 6-7 spots and exploring the possibility of in-season deals, when the cost is must less substantial.
With that said, one thing the Flyers have never been able to learn is that Stanley Cups aren't won on paper in July -- striving for a full-proof lineup at this stage just closes off the possibility of unforeseen opportunities in the future. |

i have ZERO interest in hj, his own fan base calls him disney on ice. if many in here think carle is soft... - flyerscup2011
I wouldn't mind him. Unfortunately with the Flyers need for a puck mover I am expecting someone who is somewhat of a soft player. It is what it is.
Although the think i remember most about Hjalmarsson is Richie exposing him against the Hawks in the final. I dont know if anyone else here remembers the play. |

Let me get this straight. JVR who has been dissapointing overall, but has shown flashes of potential is worth more than L. Schenn who has been dissapointing overall, but shown flashes of potential is a terrible trade? I'm going to say this again... JVR was not valued as highly obviously by real GM's as the hockeybuzz GM's in here. The Flyers weren't acquiring a top pairing defenseman with JVR, because frankly, teams apparently didn't want a big finesse forward that has an extremely long injury list and a hip that could need surgery at any time. And I actually like JVR, but I'm realistic. Should be very happy with the return. - Flyers1218
I'd rather hang on to the asset and wait until after July 1 to see how the mkt has reset. JVR unquestionably, is the higher valued asset...higher ceiling. homer is not known for his patience. |

No worries...
Flyers can take any great center and turn them into average wingers.
Leafs are going to make JVR a center too. |

i'm with you, sir.
move forward and see if one of the younguns deserves a roster spot. let mezzy off the 3rd pair and put timo with one of the kids in slightly reduced minutes. then see what happens. |

he took a calculated risk trading jvr. he did miss a ton of time and one of the main reasons was the dreaded concussion. luke schenn has a ton of potential and i'm excited to see what he can bring to our lineup. who knows we may be saying jvwho? in a few short months |

Calgary just re-signed Sarich. They have 10 d-man now on their roster. - LordStanley88
agreed. I don't want any parts of J-Bo |

Pick-pocketed him behind the net and came out front, put a low shot through Niemi's legs that a truck could have fit throught. First goal of Game 4. |

Exactly. Carle has actually been BETTER for the past 2 seasons, and JayBo is making a whopping $6.7 mill for the next 2 seasons. |

sorry, I'm being too light hearted.
OK try this
we still have giroux, couts and now the schenn brothers to look forward to, as well as another year of hartnell's antics
they are going to be a very good team no matter what carle does on 7/1 |
