BUT, with grabovski already manning the 2nd line pivot.......I just don't think colborne has the jam to be a number one.

oh i agree totally.. and he will be rehabbing anyways.. he wont start in the NHL.. that would be dumb

Great theory, except they aren't giving Bernier away.

So when you do your calcumalations, remember that the Leafs will be minus something if they are plus Bernier.

And yes, I did that on purpose.

Let me get this straight if the Leafs trade for a young promising goalie the other team will want something decent in return?

yawn......
- Barx

Make it a double yawn, I kinda feel the same way about this conversation. Just one more question because I'm curious to know. Could you please clarify for me the reason why the NHL employs the IR system? I'm quite perplexed by this if good players play through the pain...why even need an IR? Just make them play.

I mean long term...he is just another mediocre talent in the pile at centre.
...as much as it pains me to say, jokinen would actually be our best centre.

giving up assets for a young unproven goalie hasn't worked out well for us in the past
- Sammich

Worked out well for Boston when they got Rask from us. Just because a few goalie trades haven't worked out are you suggested that 100 percent of Leafs future trades should involve older proven G's?

Sorry wouldn't call Raycroft unproven, he was Rookie of the year the season before we traded for him...and he ended up tying the Leafs record for most wins in a season prev held by Belfour...but I do get your point on risk

I don't understand. Rask hasn't looked spectacular or anything. He's as unproven as Scrivens and Reimer.

yeah, but grabo could get hurt.. moved.. things happen.. colborne could get a couple looks.. play well and become a tradable asset

there are many ways to cash in on a player

Ummmmm......because they play and dream their entire lives to win the Cup and refuse to let their PLAYOFF injury sabotage that?...Reg season is one thing, playoffs is another....I suggest you watch the video

Save pct last 3 years in the NHL .929 .918 .931 .I'd take him. He has looked way better then Reimer or Scrivens they aren't even in the same ballpark right now.

Why is this even a topic really? There's no way that Brodeur wants to spend his last couple seasons playing for a team that can't make the playoffs. Unless we paid him a stupid amount of money he wouldn't be coming. So don't really need to build a case of why the Leafs wouldn't go after Brodeur.

Give it a couple weeks. Burke is always good for one cap crippling contract per UFA season.
