i don't have high expectations at this point. i don't want a let down. it's why i also think we're only going to land 2nd tier talent, UFA or trade. that is, of course, unless Stafford does a hell of a job selling the team and area to his buddy.

we (most of us) were flying high going into last season and look how that went.

I have a strong feeling about him going forward. I'm not willing to send him packing with prospects/picks for a player whose ceiling we've already seen. Guaranteed: If Ryan comes here, he will not score 30 goals - would bet my house on it!

Yes. I don't see why he wouldn't continue to get better. He's young, should be extremely motivated and has arguably the best hands on the team.

forget about last season? you mean, the one that ended like each of the other ones since 1970? devoid of an NHL championship? i'm not a doom and gloom/cynical type of Sabres fan. it's just that when everybody's all "we're getting Nash/Parise/Ryan for players we kinda don't like anymore!!! w00t!!!", i just sit here and wonder how quickly things will go downhill when they go elsewhere/stay put.
