He should be getting something for Carle's rights if you ask me. |

Dubi has a bad contract too, over 4M/yr
I think the Rangers want to dump him in the deal but they would have to include Stepan or Krieder for Columbus to go for it. - Marc D
The ironic part about Nash is depending how the next couple of days unfolds, his contract at $7.8 for 6 more years may be in line or better with risk and return to what Parise and Doan end up signing. |

For as much as Howson has been seeking, he shouldn't need to help |

That's how I saw it. Nash is locked in for 6 years & the way salaries are going up each year his contract by October way look more in line with other players his ilk. |

I think it's too late for that, and they are still hoping to sign him.
Or let him walk to go after another target they have? |

The expensive market continues
Todd Cordell @ToddCordell
The Nashville #Predators have announced that C Paul Gaustad has signed a 4-year, 13 million dollar contract extension with the team.

True. But for me it all comes down to what they're going to give up for him. |

You could be right. Parise will probably get in the neighborhood of the same cap hit for 2-4 years more, and Doan you have to figure will get close to $5million on a 3 year deal on 35+ contract. |

I am in the minority as I wanted Nash, he would be awesome for our first line and PP
And yeah "bad cap hit" and all, but now with the increased salaries
Wideman $5.25 mill. It starts to look more down to earth, he's scored 30 playing with crap on his line each year, (or at least, no playmaker). Here he would be an absolute stud.
But again, there are a handful of our own players that I wouldn't move, regardless. |

If you ask me he basically had the Preds up against a wall, after they gave up a first for him as a rental they basically had to meet his demands... |

What is scoop on Whitney?
Doan at 5m for 3 years is acceptable. Seems like a weak free agent market is driving prices higher. No surprise.
I would be surprised if Rangers make big moves. Theyve done such a good job bringing up a young team.
Pitt seems happy to spend.

His size and 2 way ability plus UFA status, cashes in, (as well, you figure the preds may have to pay a little more because they are the preds) |

I wouldn't be opposed to acquiring Nash, but I just don't see what they could offer Columbus. I can't see Homer giving up any of the d-men and surely hope Coots and Schenn continue to be untouchable.
Also, I find it hard to believe Howson would want to reacquire Voracek after just dealing him the year before. Of course, I could be wrong on that assumption. |

Never more then 12 goals in a season.........I'd have to believe it's more for his face offs & defensive zone abilities. |

Right, and the UFA status doesn't hurt. Also Nashvilles a defensive minded team that he would get a lot of playing minutes. |

I still think it's a lot given he doesn't lend much offense and for mainly defensive abilities. |

so does the niskanen contract officially put resigning Carle out of reach?
No matter how much we rag on him, he is one of the top three available guys out there. there is low quantity and the number of quality proven guys is small.
Unless he gives the flyers a huge discount, I don't see him signing for less the 6M now. |

May as well give Suter a long term deal with a bunch of lower pay years on the end to lower the cap hit. Or wait for this guy:

I'd wait.
sign a #5/#6 vet, Salo maybe
try to land Doane for three years
maybe go after Moen.
Otherwise, wait for a trade or a Weber long term. |
