Garrison makes more sense to Pitt, Parise or Suter doesn't, they still are paying about 7-8 players almost 70% of a $70 million cap. - puckhead17
If Shero's going to spend money, it's going to be up front. They have kids like Despres and Bortuzzo that are ready to jump in full-time, and guys like Morrow, Maata and Pouliot that are on the way. I would bet he's learned his lesson from the Martin and Michalek signings.
Think we'll have any interest in Tootoo..would love to see him in orange and black - legionphilly88
I think they'd have a little bit of interest but obviously not a top priority. Opposing teams hate his guts, and he can be an effective player. Hopefully he keeps his off-ice demons under control as well.

I agree but the thing is, all young defensemen are going to have plenty of ups and downs. After Letang, Niskanen and Orpik there's a lot of question marks and young players with a lot of upside but who haven't gone through the learning curve yet. Martin is still a good defenseman when reasonably healthy, but was not a healthy player for much of last season.

Rinaldo and Tootoo on the same line would be pandemonium.

I do believe Carle's agent will give the opportunity to better the offer he gets in the open market. Of course, who knows what happens at that point. - ravishingone
I think after everything is said and done carle will prob head somewhere eles. I think he gets 6 mil from someone

If he gets $6 million on the open market, I tend to agree with you. I think Suter will end with $7 million, so I kind of expect Carle to end up around $6 million since Wideman already got $5.25 million.

Then again, we've seen that Shero/Bylsma aren't scared of going with kids on the back end -- Engelland and Lovejoy are a bit utilitarian, but have managed to stick around on merit.
I'd love to see the Flyers have that same kind of faith in their lower-end prospects -- it feels like if a guy doesn't immediately show top-4 potential, the Flyers throw up their hands and deal them away. If given a chance, I'm sure a number of guys in the system could hold down a 6-7 job in the NHL.

he looked like he had some promise until that dirty hit by Scotty Upshall, pretty much finished his chances here - Marc D
His one-way contract probably steered potential waiver claimants clear of him... at least now, he has the option of signing a more affordable two-way deal, get a shot at an NHL lineup, and maybe have the hope of getting picked up elsewhere if he's waived again.

agree, it was a classy move, give him a shot somewhere else
like they did with Bobs
Does anyone else get the feeling that Parise will be the main target of the Flyers tomorrow? He may go to another place because of location, but I think the Flyers will pretty much match or out spend anyone.
Of course, if the Flyers land Parise, Carle is a goner.
