You don't need to be in the office, man. You can work from anywhere these days especially with VPN. Sure, if you're blue collar and work as a fisherman or steelworker, obviously VPN won't do any good, but as an office guy, no problem. I work from home a lot and sometimes when I'm on conference calls, I put it on mute and play Tiger Woods golf on the Wii.

Some examples of VPN include CheckPoint, Nortel, or Cisco.

I don't think many people on hockeybuzz know how pro sports work on the inside. I certainly don't, but I'm sure these guys don't work classic 9 to 5 jobs where they spend all day in a cubicle working the phones.

I'm sure deals get done informally all the time. Some people seem to think making trades and signings on July 1 is like a PBS telethon with a bunch of guys sitting by the phones all day taking and making calls.

Once I had my cell phone in the pocket of my swim trunks and accidentally walked into the pool. Hope that doesn't happen to him at a critical moment, for example, when Parise calls.

Yes, but they have an IT department. These guys are responsible for email servers, intranet, file servers, print servers, VPN, database management, backups, and many other things.
