So lets play a game... Im Ted Black.. and someone is Darcy Regier... Someone lay out a skit of why O'Reilly is worth offer sheeting at probably 4.5-5ish and is worth 2 1st round draft picks...
Im not 100% sure thats compensation fyi. - JVince11
Ted Black: Darcy why should we offer sheet Ryan O'Reilly
Darcy Regier: Because if I can add O'Reilly to the team it gives us flexibility down the middle which will make it easier for me to give up one of Ennis/Hodgson (or both?) for Bobby Ryan ensuring that those hacks in Philly don't get him.
That's about the only reason I can think of |

That would be a pretty sick move. Or maybe he will threaten Colorado. Trade us Stasny or we're going to offer sheet O'Reilly. - The_Inkwell

@I'm that guy.....I agree about those far out contracts and glad we're
but I really disagree on you trade suggestions for Ryan.
My take on Parise and quite obvious is-- he's in it for the cups. Money's not a big issue but like all of us if somebody is waving a large order of cash in your face you really need to at least listen. He really wants NJ but they have ownership problems. If that can somehow be worked out he will be in NJ and I strongly feel he will be......just like Doan....we will know on him July 9 AND so will the City of Phoenix (if Phoenix will have a franchise) |

IMO, just does not make sense. We dont need that Foligno. We have enough of his type of game. We need more skill. - ImThatGuy
i dont think we have nearly enough with his type of game actually |

Parise and Brodeaur may go back to NJ.
However, NJ may need to trade some guys out.
For what it is worth, Roy and Brennan might be the part of a deal to take on some contracts out of NJ....Zubrus is very likely if Buffalo is going after Semin; Tallinder is also quite possible. - RicoMartin

I dont knkw enough about him to pass judement... He strikes me as a guy that has been a 1year wonder much like parenteau was.. we need proven players not hopefuls in my opinion.. we already have hopefuls in ennis amd hodgson |

3m Bob McKenzie Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
TOR signs Jay McClement to to 2 year deal worth $3M. - jochfr
We lost on McClement and Allan; we are either signing Parise or we are signing Semin and trading to get Zubrus back in the fold to play as our 3rd line center.
Jokinen is still a possible signing |

The physical part no, but the ability part yes. We have an abundance of 3rd liners who can jump on the 2nd line if needed, and not enough of the 1st line talent guys. |

Couldn't disagree more.
The kid is going to be an NHL animal and he's already proven it.
Parenteau gets that cabbage and RO'R is 10x's the player.
Worth every nickel-

I think Jokinen will go to Phoenix or the Isles.

Except O'Reilly is quite young, unlike Parenteau. This kid can get better, he is a leader, he plays a good 2 way game. No reason not to take a shot at the guy. Of course no way I pay the guy 5 mil quite yet. |

Prust at a 2.5 mil cap hit...pass - KINGTUFF17
Really?? so, I guess we will continue getting smacked around by Lucic, and the entire Bruins team, ohhh you can include Senators to that list as well, not to mention list of other tougher teams that will beat us down, and eat our lunch.
We really needed to add some grit, toughness to this team. However, Darcy was probably taking a nap all day long. I hope we all enjoy watching bunch of smurfs skating around with their purses. |

What i want to see done. . .
Trade Ennis+Sekera+1st (add prospect if needed)
for
Ryan.
Trade Vanek + Pysyk + Adam + Leopold ++
for
Evander Kane + Bogosian
Team immediately becomes tougher, bigger and adds scoring. - ImThatGuy
that would be a big time over-payment in my opinion |

I think Regehr played exactly the way Flames fans told us he would; strong, gritty, mean until about December, then his age and the wear and tear begin to show until he's got nothing left in the tank by the end of the season.
He was one guy that got into trouble because of the injuries our other d-men had. At this point in his career, I just don't think he can handle the minutes anymore. It's too bad, because he's been a warrior for a long time in this league but his body just can't handle it anymore. He dished out some HUGE highlight-type hits in the fall, but disappeared in the Winter.
Unfortunately, it seems he's following in the footsteps of guys like Rivet, Tucker, Peca, etc.; they played so hard for so long, but their bodies just couldn't handle that style anymore. I think he'll be fine as a 5th/6th d-man on this roster and after this year, he'll be gone. - The_Inkwell
Regher is best suited at the 5th defeseman paired with someone like weber or Leopold......we needed Allan, but Anaheim out smarted us and got him. |

Well I do like the idea of adding depth in order to make the bobby Ryan trade more plausible and hurt less... but if that is the case then we essentially will give up multiple first round picks to both Colorado and Anaheim not to mention the players given to Anaheim as well...

Whats funny that we have no idea about is that...
We could have offered Prust a deal that he made 2M instead of 2.15M like he got..
We could have offered Parros 950k for 1 year but FLA offered 925k for 2 years.
We could have offered Parenteau a 3 year 12M deal but Avs offered a 4 year 16.
we could have been players today but we just got out bid. |

My opinion offer Parise Crosby money.
You are grossly overpaying.
You are getting a guy first at practice last one to leave guy. Accountable scores pks
getting everything we are missing.
A Drury type. Priceless
It lets us as ek puts let the dominos fall.
Then we could in trade market move a vanek a roy a ennis a leopold or whatever to ad a Ryan or ott or Doan. |
