same thing happen to mike weber when he signed the 1 year deal . in 2010–11 i think...
he was not waiver exempt . - gerbe75pts
Weber had a games played(NHL) issue if memory serves me. |

IMO from reading the CBA multiple times about this very same subject, that is correct.
If he were 24 and in his 5th year as a pro, he'd lose his exempt, unless he was an emergancy call up.
See Mark Mancari. - dadeadhead
CBA is pretty confusing. I was reading through and it seemed like both scenarios could apply to a player.
I just think that more teams would be snatching up prospects from other teams that are fresh off their ELC but arent ready to play in the NHL yet |

Well when I (frank) up the difference between Kovalchuck and Ovechkin please call me out on it... but if you are really gonna choose your battles on the household name likliness of f'n John Scott.... your life is pretty small..\
I even brought up John Scott a few weeks back about him and McGrattan because they are both small time but underrated goons.. but I got laughed out of the bar for even bringing up those names...
for (frank) sake man... with age you are supposed to acquire wisdom not self-righteousness.
I'm out of here... hopefully everyone got their b!tching out of their system this weekend because that is all anyone has done since TextingSources has come on here.. or we all ate b!tch fillets for dinner. I've never even gotten into an argument with you either DD. - JVince11
And I thought the idea was a waste of a roster space then too. |

are we really looking at stats ? he is on our team does he play like a hockey player or a goon - gerbe75pts
He barely plays first of all, second like I said he will never see a second of any special teams play, not a good faceoff guy, has more career Pims than games played, if that is not the definition of a goon I dont know what is. I like Mccormick and the 4 mins of effort he puts out every night, but seriously who cares... I have one question, Where was all the Cody love when he was injured this year, not one mention of how he was missed in the lineup. Reason being he wasnt |

I've read the whole thing 3 times and it still confuses the poop out of me.
The waiver and salary cap sections probably close to 50 times each.

FACT:
McCormick averaged 7:42 TOI/G last year...
Scott averaged 6:42 TOI/G last year...
If the difference between being one of these sweet 4th liner player agitator/decent hitter/bad faceoff taker/sometimes fighter and Scott being a "goon" is 1 minute per game.. and Scott makes literally HALF the money that McM does..
I'll take Scott. He does his sole job better in 6 mins per game. |

Not a waste of a roster spot when teams around you have loaded up with fighters much lke him. - buffalo 1
Most of them can actually skate and add more to the game though. scott is useless. he is so (frank)ing slow. He is a liability on the back end and can't keep up to the play or do anything up front. On top of that, there are only a few that will fight the guy. |

I have zero issues with signing Jon Scott. He'll be in the lineup for what, 40-50 games?
A guy like him can have a bigger impact on a game, one that nobody can really even see, yet it's still there.
Our skill guys might get an extra second to make the pass, take the shot, and just make the right overall play. Guys won't be taking that extra step to make a hit knowing that Scott will be waiting in the wings the next time they hit the ice.
Think he'll be scared to give Lucic a half arsed tilly like the rest of the guys on this team have been? No. Lucic takes a run at somebody, Scott will be there to answer the bell.
Guys like him make people accountable. IMO we haven't had someone like that since Rob Ray retired, and I for one am excited about it. |

Which is the sole reason he is here, if Lucic or any division team takes a run at someone. The next game Scott will be there and vice versa, Kaleta takes a run at someone.. Scott plays the next game against that team for insurace that things dont get outta hand |
