Sabres GM Darcy Regier was relatively quiet on the first day of free agency, primarily because he was focused on trying to acquire Anaheim Ducks sniper Bobby Ryan.
According to the Buffalo News, the Sabres remain extremely interested in Ryan and are among several teams trying to obtain his services.


It's unclear, at this stage, what the Sabres are offering, though it's believed center Derek Roy is part of a package being presented.
The Sabres have been actively shopping Roy, who has one-year left on his contract, dating back to the middle of this past season.

The Carolina Hurricanes, Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers have also shown an interest in Ryan.

Ryan became fed up with all the trade speculation surrounding him over the season and it's now his desire to move on and play for another team.

He has three-years left on his current contract at an annual salary cap hit of $5.1 million
