But the Wild stink. You would think money being equal he would rather have a chance to win. - PLindbergh31
The Wild are going to be very good, very quickly. Especially if they land Parise. |

I agree that the continued increase in the cap is likely to come to an end in the near future. But $6 million to a player in a $70 million cap is not the same as a $6 million player in a $54 million cap. Although, extending 12-year contracts in this financial climate is not too fiscally sound either. Thankfully, most of these GMs won't have to deal with the repercussions in a few years (they'll be fired by then). - bradleyc4
i think agents and players probably realize that this UFA season could be the last really crazy one, so they're going nuts. |

right now they do, doesn't mean they always will. it's not like it's a one or two year deal - FlyerMike18
Fair point. Maybe playing at home means a lot to him. We will find out soon enough. |

Yeah, he would help no question. They lack offense, they are solid defensively and in goal. |

If he signs with Pittsburgh or Philly he immediately becomes a villain with Devils fans. Does he want to do that?
I think Detroit makes the most sense for him. - PLindbergh31
How much longer will the Devils be around? The fact that their captain walked says something regarding their financial situation. Ponikarovsky also mentioned that's part of the reason he left. |

I sure as hell hope he's deciding between Minny and Philly. Who knows though. |

Any interest in going after Hudler if Parise/Suter fall through?
He would get 50-60 points playing with Giroux, good replacement for Jagr. |

I think they'd go hard after Ryan if they missed out here. |

Brodeur stayed for two more years and took a pay cut to do so. Hopefully the Devils go away. That would be fantastic. |

Sure but they wouldn't have to give up players in a trade to sign Hudler.
Ryan will cost a top 4 defenseman ++ |

Yeah, it's a reflection of the overall thinking of Western society today -- short-term payoffs trump questions of long-term viability. |

I don't want them to leave. Too much history in the Flyers-Devils rivalry. |

No guarantee Weber becomes available. Right now Suter is available.

And not even REMOTELY worth what he is being offered.

Interesting. Funny how Zach called Dustin and let him know this.
"Dustin - I'm really torn between Pitt and Minnesota. What do you think? I can't decide. On the one hand, I get to play with my "friend", and I really like his family. On the other hand, I get to play near home". - Daman
My sources are telling me Parise is waiting for Carle to sign. He has concerns about "puck movement" before coming to the Flyers. |

Didn't hear who told the guys on the NHL Home Ice show but they just said that they think its Minny, pens, Devils, Detroit and Flyers in that order for Parise

Well Parise is gone, now to focus on bringing back Carle and getting a solid winger that is not over priced |

Minnesota is his home, and Pittsburgh offers him a better chance to win, as well as playing with the best player in the NHL.
Once money reaches a certain point it's all relative. |
